Lotus Notes is client/server only. It does not work as a stand alone e-mail program on a PC getting POP mail. But, you should be able to define a local notes database, File -> Database -> New and run it as a local only program. Down at the bottom right hand corner you will be able to click the location and 'edit current' or do a File -> Preferences and go from there.
How did you get a copy? Are you an IBMer?
