Glocosamine...anyone ever try it?

My knees have been getting progressively sore and achy, to the point I was fiaving trouble kneeling this past weekend.

Went to Eckerd and bought some Glucosomine with chondroitin(sp) and calcium tablets.

Within 24 hours, all of my aches and pains were gone and I noticed a flexibility in mt knees that I haven't had in awhile.

Anyone else ever use it?

My wife swears by that stuff.
She learned about it when the Vet started giving it to her 23 year old quarterhorse. It worked miracles on the horse.
She talked to our family physician and he recommended it too so she started taking it. It works!

I ownder if it's one of those things that your body gets used to, then you have to stop taking it for awhile and restart.

Man I tell you, my knees especially, but my body overall feel fanfriggintastic!

I used it for 2 years on my arthritic dod and it didn't do squat. I switched to Adaquan Canine and it was much better. IM injection of the stuff into the bloodstream and had FDA stamp on it too. The have a Equine version of it.

Isn't glucosamine just a protein found in gristle?

Buy cheap cuts of meat, get the glucosamine, save money, and exersize your jaw muscles.

Jell-O is made out of the same thing except it tastes better and you don't have to work as hard to eat it.

I don't care where it comes from, I just know it feels good.

Plus I don't like cheap meat.

From the bottle:

Glocosamine is a natural occuring substance in joint cartilage.

Joint cartilage is affected by the aging process and natural wear and tear.

I have been worn and torn, so it's for me.

I've used it for two months then stopped abruptly.....honestly never felt any difference. And I do have arthritis, in at least one shoulder that has been MRI confirmed.

Eliminate artificial sweeteners

The glucosamine worked for my Dad. Then he read somewhere about Equal causing joint pain. He laid off the glucosamine and kept his regular 1 packet of Equal/ day with Coffee. Joint pain, especially knee, came back. He laid off the Equal and all pain gone. It took about a week to get out of his system completely.
It worked for him. I say if you're using any artificial sweeteners or diet sodas too, at least give a personal experiment like that a shot.
I'm not knocking glucosamine, but something else might be working against you.

I do use equal quite a bit, but have been cutting down. I have been using Splenda instead.

Thanks

I have been using it for the past four years for a knee injury which went back a few years prior. Two years ago I had reconstructive surgery done on my right knee, the one with the problem, do to a then recent hockey injury. After the surgery, I stopped for a while and definitely notice the pain returning. I still take one pill a day and have very little discomfort. It works for me!

Re: Jell-O

I'm pretty sure that Jell-O is made of pig skin, and not cartilage.

Generally, it's not something you want to tell anybody while they are eating it.
I am happy to see that the Glucosamine is working for so many. I am going to recommend that my cousin try it, as she is only 31, and has severe back pain to the point to where she has to take morphine twice a day.
Thanks for the posts on it!
