Oh, are we back to the "Iraq caused 9/11" argument? Sorry, not playing.

You said that not me.....

9/11 was the begining of " This crap stops now" era...ending 8 years of Clintons do nothing policies.

Obviously I can't predict the future....

But I'd prefer that we at least TRY....even if we fail.....rather than doing nothing, and failing anyway.

A favorite old song lyric of mine applies here: "I'd rather regret something I DID, than something I DIDN'T do.

Yes, we had discussions before, and I'm hearing the same old familiar rant without any idea whatsoever on a better alternative. UN-membership is not compulsory. Love it, or leave it. Vote for a guy that says he'll pull out. Don't think many countries (apart from Blair) would regret that very much anyway: nobody likes a whiner

BTW, loads of countries will welcome that $$$ huge UN Headquarters

Yes, we have the power to block a lot of their moronic initiatives and decisions, but it's still costing us a f**kload of money, they are generally just a huge pain in our ass, yet for some reason all of our leaders, including George W., seem to think that we are somehow obligated to at least give lip service to getting their "approval" before we take actions that we feel are in our best interest.

When the UN has a majority of nations that are led by democratically-elected governments, perhaps I'll give them a bit of respect. Until then, I have little use for them, even when they ARE on the same side of an issue that I am. With friends like them, who needs enemies!

I'd LOVE to leave it. I DO vote for candidates who would like to leave it. I don't really care whether a bunch of numbnut dictators and communist leaders would miss us or not. You'd welcome the UN headquarters over there?..... Take it away, please! Be my guest! I'll go help them pack their things!.....

I'd give the new host country a billion to take that snakepit. I nominate France or Belgium.

Way to stay on-topic.

Vronsky, although he brought up Iraq, at least offers relevant comments regarding the UN, which is the subject of discussion. Or was...

Sorry, I don't mean to sound harsh, but it seems that every thread I read turns into an Iraq/Bush-bashing thread.

And your opinion on the UN scandal is? My point is only that, yet again, a thread has been steering toward the Iraq issue. I'm guilty of threadjacking myself, so I probably shouldn't talk... a thousand apologies, Mein Fuhrer.

Seriously, sorry... I should have just kept that to myself.

Danged if it doesn't take an attorney to avoid answering a two word question. Let's try it again -- how so?
