C230 engines

Last year the 1.8 liter 163hp engine of C200k got beefed up to 192hp and they called that C230. But after only 1 year, they discontinued that and put in a new 2.5liter 200hp V6 instead.

Any one knows how's the 1.8l 192hp compared to the base non-beef up 1.8l ? And why did they change so fast ? Is that because the 192hp engine is not performing that well ? And how is the new V6 is like ?

The 1.8L engine has had major driveability problems, mostly heavy carbon fouling. Check engine lights on every 1,000 miles, have been overhauling cylinder heads on vehicles with less than 30K miles, some less than 20K.
-stay away from the 1.8-

It's just 3 different models:

In europe there was the
C180 Kompressor - 143bhp
C200 Kompressor - 163bhp
C230 Kompressor - 190bhp

But they were all based on the same 1.8L "twinpulse" engine which is supposedly much nicer than the old 2.0 & 2.3 Kompressors (SLK200/230, CLK200/230 etc.)

Prior to the all 1.8 range of engines it was the

C180 - 2.0 130bhp no Kompressor
C200 Kompressor - 2.0 163bhp
C230 Kompressor - 2.3 193bhp.

Or thereabouts.

So the W203 chassis has had a lot of engines and has never been terribly clear about what has what.
