Katrina: The 'faith based' hurricane

While the right wing press has adopted the position that George Bush is simply an indecisive buffoon at the mercy of incompetent subordinates, the real truth is that Bush's inaction for most of the first week of the hurricane was absolutely deliberate. Once agan, as in Iraq, Bush wished a rosy scenario, that the hurricane would give him a chance to show that his "faith based" "armies of compassion" led by "state and local governments" was the right and proper philosophy of governance of this nation. Again, as in Iraq, his fantasy dream scenario quickly turned into a nightmare, only this time instead of turning a war into catastrophe, Bush turned a catastrophe into a war. If ever we had a great example of the intellilectual bankruptcy of the "libertarian" view, this was it. Rather than assert federal jurisdiction when the levees, which are in fact the property of the US Government under the direct jurisdiction of the President, Bush choose to let thousands become starved, maimed or dead in an another attempt to impose the ludicrous governmental philosophies he and his supporters maintain are good for us.

Do you have any proof of this at all or is this what your DNC handlers and their partizan agenda wants you to say.

Name the last president who was a proven psychic...and explain just why MOST of these people whining so loud down there did not make an effort to leave when they were told to leave, yet had plenty of get up and go when looting time started....
and I am not refering to the infirm or elderly.

Yeah you are right...some of these lefties are oblivious to the facts and reality even when its handed to them on a silver platter.
That and iff all those troops were not in Kosovo but the the deep south there would have been more troops availible too.

The opening of this thread no doubt would upset some applecarts but there could be an element of truth to it.

As far as proof, BHD, you can't hardly ever prove stuff like this. "W" is never gonna tell us what he's thinking while he's in free fall onto his chin. The talent in this admin comes after the fact, when they do a remarkable job of convincing most Americans that they are completely on top of things, that new developments are exactly what they anticipated and are part of the process, Condi Rice's new favorite word.

Well name one group who knew exactly what was going to happen and just how bad it was by day one?

There was nobody...the lefties did know...the republicans didn't know, and hell nobody knows just what they are going to find when the waters are gone and the tolls are totalled...

We are talking 90,000 square miles...thats a whole lot of space. And with the communications and electric down in that zone how could anyone?

Its pure lefty banter instead of using that energy to whine and point accusing fingers like W is god or something why aren't they taking that engy down there to try to help...but then thats not the democrat way...they point fingers and expect someone else to do the work.

And the basic premise is...had these people left when they were told to leave the death toll would have been far lower...

The exceptions were the infirm and elderly.

Haven't seen Jeese Jackson and crew down there wading house to house....or any of those other loudmouth types who love to point fingers at W so haistily.

Yeah its a tragidy...but W didn't casue the Hurricane...

most of these victims (the trapped and drowned) put themselves in that position by not leaving..(specific to New Orleans mostly)

Yes and if we had some ham, we could have a ham and cheese sandwich, if we had some cheese.

I want to know Bush's history as far as remarks, action, or inaction on the wetland restoration in the Lou. Delta. Some people knew disaster was a foregone conclusion. Dubya's too busy making snide cracks at varn-mentalists to actually take any of that stuff seriously. Lip service for the most part.

The national media had people on the ground days before much of the federal responders showed up. Bush's priorities in life are being shown to be mis-informed. The proof is in the pudding. The man is lacking, I mean lacking , in useful forsight.

HEY! Lets hijack this thread !

CMAC, one of your basic problems is this:
"there is an element of truth to it"

Yea, but Hitler had an element of truth to everything he said too. The problem is when things are spoken, they need MORE than an element of truth, they need to have a huge perponderance of truth.

I also believe the media is responsable for content more than most

Again lack of proof....

Nothing a republican does is enough...and nothing a democrat does is wrong.

Point is this was a city below sea level surrounded by water on 3 sides..in hurricane alley......

It was all a matter of time..regardless of who was in office...

Just a large scale version of russian roulette.

Ever hear of entropy?

It's not that all right wingers are stupid, it just seems like all stupid people are right wingers.
