With all the Katrina crap you would think...
You know I've read almost every thread here about Katrina.
Has there been any talk about the Hurrican Pam study yet? That should really show you how the POTUS and the money-men really could care less about the people that lost it all due to Katrina. Sorry BHD, but this one pretty much nails your death-box up for you on this topic. Pete |

True you can, but you may want to read the study or at least the abstract and you will clearly see why the Bush Crime Family should face criminal charges.

I win..you are ranting just like every other democrat has done since Gore the bore lost the election.... Rant rant rant....provide no proof...but point fingers anyway like Dan Rather got caught doing in his lies.... Thats why the dems hold fewer seats today then when Bush took office...becasue they offer NO constructive alternatives...all they can do is cry and moan, lie and accuse. The Democrats are marginalizing themselves ...... its only the left wing wackos that see nothing wrong with what their party is doing and has been doing the last 5 years...... I look forward to even more republicans in office next election. Please keep up the good work.

At its heart the Katrina disaster shows the failure of a particular philosophy of government. It is typified here, and tottering here, with posters now finding that their claim, that the federal government was somehow excused from acting due to its political philosophy, rests on the dead bodies of Americans. When one claims to have a superior political philosophy to the opposition, dead bodies are quite an embarrassment. A political philosophy that results in old women in wheelchairs dying of starvation and neglect over a period of a week is going to have a hard time finding support except among those who are the most ardent True Believers. Myself, I am quite happy that they continue to attempt to support what most people now see as rank idiocy with their "its not my yob, man" arguments. The voters will finally drive these people from office, out of pure disgust.

I agree that the rebuilding should be telling. Will it be more of the same? I hope not. I think it was kinda a load that the speaker recieved from the press when he said something to the effect that maybe it shouldn't be rebuilt the same way. I was thinking the same thing, as I'm sure were others. I've seen the comparisons to CA and other places where there is the chance of natural disaster. To me they don't equate. NO had almost everything that could have led to disaster yet little that could spare it other than the fact that previous hurricanes had missed. I did just see on the news that the mayor, after setting his family up in a house in Houston, stated that no one is going to rebuild anything in NO without his say so. I wonder what he means by this. Althought I don't think it's the fed's job to make local building codes the complete corruption and inadequacy of the local government is certainly tempting enough to make me wish they'd consider it; although I am in general not a fan of bigger government. Plus I'm sure that would start a firestorm of debate over the right of the local government to control it's destiny. No doubt many who advocated for the feds to come in and take over emergency relief early would turn 180 degrees on that debate. It appears that as the mayor and governor possibly get a pass on their (majority) share of culpability the rebuilding effort will be much the same as the previous city. Putting everyone in exactly the same situation when the storm cycle becomes violent again in 50 or so years. But what can be expected when so much effort is placed on a head executive rather than those closest to the problem. Sure was fun to get those political digs in though...
