Can't have it both ways which was why it is the responsibility of those in charge of the state(Governor) to initiate any Fed participation. I voted for Jindal, he would have been all over this!! Blanco made it a point to identify him as a "person of color" the very night she found out she would face him in a run-off. I have despised her since, her being a member of the "party of inclusion" and all that blab. Now she is in a "delicate" situation. The very parish which put her "over the top" in the Gov's race has been exported to Texas and other parts. Would have thought by that fact alone, they would have topped her priority list in this event. Even Jesse J. is complaining about how the people of NO have gone off to other states to probably never return. He see's what it means. If the Gov's race was run tomorrow, LA would have a Republican leader for the first time in a long time. I think there will be no re-election for her 2nd term now. Nagin is probably "finished" too!!! Good riddance to both!! Now maybe the "poor" in my state have a real chance for a "better life"!!

And I do sincerely hope that will break the cycle of corruption that has wasted money and kept LA down for so long. Maybe that will be the silver lining in all of this.

Hi Peragrow,

Did you notice what you quoted said :"If they were republicans" but miraculously reappeared
as "If the mayor of NO and the governor of La were DEMOCRATS"

Do you know how that happened?

BHD, there already seems to be a "silver lining". Property in Baton Rouge and Lafayette are up because of demand and I do not doubt that statewide testing scores just increased by several % points without even taking a test!! Somebody please make the "poor" understand that education is more important to them than other group!! Our system here keeps them "dumb" for political purposes and it is a shame!! I think our state gov. has catered to this too long. Hoping we see changes now that it appears the dynamics of it may been exposed. "No food or water" because we want them to leave!! They did!! Can't wait to find out how all of this will turn out after investigation. Really believe that life as we know it justed changed here.

Back to the topic, W exhibits more integrity than our local pols who seem to be only able to point fingers!! My finger in their eye is next.

Take my word for it that problem extends way beyond LA. Keeping people dumb and misimformed is exactly how the Islamist terrorists function too for the most part.

How do you get the message across that dropping out of highschool is the single most stupid thing a person can do? thats a very good question.

azureblue 09-14-2005 10:53 PM

BHD, how do you get across that High School is not even enough in this world now?

Hi Ron,

Must have accidently hit the "pot calling the kettle black" button rather than "quote". My mistake, it may happen again.

I agree with that, Bonehead, though I think I would phrase it like this: Some people will find a path through trades more rewarding than a path through academics. I know a plumber who wasted several frustrating years in college who quit and went back for his plumbing license and now has his own business and does better than a whole bunch of college grads. I know another guy who runs a refinery, though he has no college degree. He learned from the bottom-up, beginning as a day laborer and later a pipefitter 30 years ago. Too bad the educational system pushes so many people into college who find the whole excersize frustrating and a waste of time.

Worse, pushing people who are not academically inclined into university education detracts from the university experience of kids who have a knack for academics. I wish that society placed more emphasis on the positive value of learning a skilled trade. Our country would be better served by a honored and motivated skilled labor force rather than one that has degree-envy on one side and a put-down from the other. It builds unnecessary and detrimental baggage into the system.

BHD, you are right that not everyone is college material, and so, we will always have the poor and misinformed among us to be manipulated for political reasons.

Back to topic. I find honor in a man who will accept responsibility for a situation not entirely of his making. Just wish those directly so would do the same.

Bot, now I have to take back some of what I said, because you are right in a way. Some find their own way despite what we think might be the best course of action. Let it be said like old, If there is a will, there is a way!! Just seems there are so many without will.

So is my Black Lab, genuine and compassionate............
but no disrespect the guy acts like a total burnout, and he's the f'in President...
I still can't get over that he couldn't even face the camera, when he said "...He's responsible..." What a pussy!

Brave words used promiscuously. Besides whine and complain and denigrate, what have you done about anything, at anytime, anywhere?
