W shows signs of maybe having a trace of integrity!

I couldn't believe my ears when I heard W say this on the radio today:

"Katrina exposed serious problems in our response capability at all levels of government. And to the extent that the federal government didn't fully do its job right, I take responsibility."

Wow. Mr. Rove's focus groups must be sending them some very loud, very clear messages about Katrina.

Lets hope that W truly owns up to his responsibility and does not pull a Ronald Reagan. When something went wrong under Reagan's watch, he would say something like, "I take full responsibility...but I didn't really do anything wrong." That way, he could claim to be a stand up guy without admitting fault. For the sake of the country, I hope W doesn't take that route.

STFU....! Your comments are truely sickening...Get a life!

This is not a party thing. The guy F..'d up and he is admitting it....
If we're lucky, when this all boils down, he will be impeached.

He's taking responsibility for 100's of people dying when they shouldn't have.

Big deal. GW is not going to run for the third term, so he can care less about his rating, responsibilities, duties to the country, dignities or integrity. He only does it for photo ops and front page news. The only thing he cares is to stay in office long enough for his term to complete.

Believe me, in two more weeks......Katrina? What/Who the heck was that?

You're talking about the mayor or the governor?

Hi Koop,

If bush would have said "The Buck Stops Here!" would you say that he stole the line?

Bush only took responsibility for the Federal mismanagement portion... nothing more..
He also said that there would be an investigation. That will certainly uncover a few state and local fubars that will not be appreciated.

It apppears that NO nurses or doctors were found dead in the nursing home where the 30+ died.
I guess they must have taken the evacuation notice seriously. At least someone listens to
warnings.

The point is that W finally is taking responsibility for something. Although he is only covering his butt at this point, he doesn't have a choice.

Your post on the other hand shifted the blame to the victims who died in the hurricane.

Class act.

Hi Jason,

All I was pointing out is that certain people who were closer to the government were warned to evacuate. The ones who were not so well connected probably never were told if they did not listen to radio, tv or buy a newspaper.

Didn't we once have trucks with big speakers mounted on the roof to broadcast news and warnings to the poor during times of war? At least that would have gotten the message out.
There is more communication with the poor when a soft ice-cream truck passes by playing its'
song.

Of course, if everyone tried to leave at the same time, the more affluent would have been
stuck in traffic much longer. It comes down to either survival of the fittest, or survival of the richest.

You can't blame that on the feds

Bush is only taking responsibility because his advisors assure him it's the best tack to take. More "president by the numbers," like the ole "paint by numbers" kraft kits. Can you imagine having a president who actually had the guts to speak what was on his mind at all times? Or at least to not need constant teleprompter or notes? To have the feeling that the words he was speaking actually sprang from a place of understanding in his brain?

If its not a party thing why are the democrats circling their wagons to defend the two people (the Mayor and Governor) most responsible for what happened?

These two people were the PRIMARY ones responsible to oversee that the evacuation occured and the plan was followed. We all know it wasn't and while the Mayor was away in a nice safe comfy place those poor elderly people drowned in their rooms...and those people in the Hospital died an equally horrific death....and why? Becasue two prominant Democrats failed to do their jobs....

And the democrats are trying to blame Bush for this while ignoring these two people.

You need to seriously take a long look in the mirror as to whats wrong with the democrats if you fail to see what is wrong with this.

But then why should I expect a flunky of the Cult of Clinton to grasp that concept..

Other than Mary Landrieu and a couple of other Louisana politicians, I don't recall hearing any democrats say anything nice about the mayor or the governor. Seems to me that they are getting heat from just about all sides.

Well if they had any integrity that would have been denouncing both of them from Day one.....

Anyone with a clue as to how the government works knows they are the two most culpible people in the country to what occured.

Problem is few people really knows how things work...and I blame the DNC for organizing the bush bashing. Becasue 95% of those people don't have a clue....and were played by the left.
