Health Insurance? What?
Recently I was cancelled off my parents health insurance due to my age and now I'm looking so some on my own.
Basically I have a small clue as what to look for when getting my own insurance, but there is just way to much info. to make this a simple task. I've used some resources from my school and there seems to be some type of deal through them but I can't sign up for it until next year, so right now I'm looking at a temporary plan until the new year rolls around. I figure though, before I waste to lot of time on looking, if any of you have any suggestions for me. What I'm looking for is a plan at the lowest possible price, with a low deductable. I'm only looking to use this insurance for emergency use, like if I break an arm. I rarely go to the doctor, and just had several check-ups before my parents insurance kicked my off, so most likely I won't need any doctors visits at all. I don't need any precription drugs coverage. So really I don't plan on using the insurance at all unless an accident happens. My age is 24 and I live in California. Armed with that information if anyone has any suggestions on a type of plan for me or where to look lets hear it, i wan't to get this done asap. Thanks!

Low price and low deductible don't usually go together.

HSA.
A high deductible plan for a young guy should be in the $50-100 range per month. Throw another $100/mo in your Health Savings Account and pretty soon you'll have enough in there to cover the deductible on an appendictomy or pinning your arm back together. The good news is you get to deduct it like an IRA.

Not on my side of the planet. I'm 34 in great shape, non-smoker... Crap policy is $190. Anything decent is $400. So let me know where I can go for $100. |

Can you explain this more? Is it actually called "Mini Med"? Do you have an actual name for the policy? Thanks, Pete |

It varies atate to state but if your in good health the HSA is a good plan. If you wnt a cheap traditional plan check out the National Association for the Self Employed.
