Winter Olympics
What's your favorite event? Of course mine is XC skiing and biathlon, been watching quite a bit of curling too. Imagine that, curling!
Minnesota has 36 athletes in the games this year. Gotta support our local boys and gals!

Slalom- & mogul skiing, half-pipe snowboarding.
Seems the American boys are collecting most of the medals. Figure skating is nice to watch aswell. And of course that breathtaking curling... ![]() Actually prefer the Winter Games over the Summer Games: Winter Games still has this sort of 'cosy' character, compared to the huge & massive size of the Summer event.

The Winter Games are the best opportunity for caucasians to medal in their event.

Perhaps a test of strength such as the post event arm-pit-odor competition…
Perhaps a test of lung strength in a cold environment by holding the ice water bong competition…

I love the Olympics, but since I don't get cable I have very little opportunity to watch them. This past Sunday I tuned in to NBC to check out whatever events they had on and they were running an infomercial!! I couldn't believe it.
I happen to live out in the country where cable isn't available, but it seems you're pretty much SOL if you're poor and want to watch the Olympics. Just thought I would add my 2 cents about this.

The Winter Olympics are much better than the Summer Olympics.
Curling is a good game, although TV doesn't do it justice. Biathalon is a great event. |

Downhill gotta be the best. Those folks get up over 70MPH and a wrong move can kill.

Biathlon is really cool. They just opened up a Biathlon range up here. You ski hard, then you have to depend on your conditioning to recover fast enough to shoot. They squeeze the trigger in between heartbeats.
Luge is pretty exciting. Where can I get a ride on one of those things? ![]()

Well thanks for the info DieselAddict. I wish they would show a lot more, though. I would love to see as many hockey games as I could, for instance, but instead they will probably show about three games on the regular NBC network, and they will be abridged at that.
I think all the events are pretty cool. The down hill skiing was really intense; of the ones I've seen this year that was probably my favorite.

Bode Miller: over the top??
Do you boys reckon superstar favourite Bode Miller will win any medal at all at these Games?? Okay, so the downhill last Saturday (5th) isn't his strongest discipline, but yesterday at the combination in Sestrieres he got disqualified while ranking first. His comment on TV was: "Fine, now I don't have to travel to Torino for the medal award", as if his suitcase was already filled with medals.... Seems his motivation isn't what it was in the last seasons. His skiing is not as daring at the moment. He hasn't won any Worldcup race either this year so far. He's always been a bit of an outsider in the alpine ski circus, I think the snowboarders scene is actually more his kind of people. Miller's not that old yet, he should be good for another Olympics. Anyway, his successor has already there: Ted Ligety. This Saturday's slalom race will be very tight: Ligety, Miller, Raich, Schonfelder, Kostelic, and of course the Italian favorite Rocca who's won almost all Worldcup races this season.
Tonight at 19.30 (GMT): men's mogul finals ![]()

Bleh, downhill. What a sport of poseurs. If you can't get up the mountain yourself you should try shuffleboard instead.
Bode talks much, there are too many commercials about "Bode on Bode" and too many endorsements. He lets the pressure get to him and pretends to have the hopes of a nation on his back. Frankly Bode, I can't be bothered. I'd bet against Bode in any other sport which requires character. Running, swimming, biking, mountaineering, telemark, XC skiing, nordic skating, etc. Bode vs. Alsgaard? Alsgaard. Bode vs. Lance? Lance Bode vs. Messner? Messner Bode vs. Edlinger? Edlinger Bode vs. Dave Scott? Scott Compared to real athletes, Bode is a lead weight.
