That oughtta get the ball rolling.

I've always found it interesting (ironic) that in a country that champions the rights of the helpless, the most helpless ones of all-- those still in the womb-- seem to have the least chance of obtaining that most basic right of -- life.

Yes, I am pro-life.

I wonder if abortion is how liberalism is kept in check.

It is. I have a good friend who teaches biology and is aware of this. She is constantly encouraging her liberal students to have lots of children. It's not working.

Awesome....

It's great that you have an opinion on this matter. What doesn't wash is when one group stats to impose their opinion as law onto others right to free thought, speech or whatever. Why any group would want to take away peoples' rights is beyond me. Some things in life should be personal choice and preference, where does one draw the line. I respect your opinion to be pro-life Stefano but in return it seems pro-choice has become in some eyes pro-killing. That simply is not the case; it is what it states Pro-CHOICE.

Let’s open up another can of whoopass and get into the smoking issue for a moment. I personally smoke, admittedly not the best vice, but there could be worse. Do I think one should smoke while others dine at a restaurant...NO. Do I think one should smoke on a plane...NO... but not to be allowed to have a smoke at an open air concert or a bar???? Give me a break !!!!!!! Health nuts out there in this world suck up more pollution and carcinogens while the public bus rolls by and they peddle to work. Yet they impose their will upon others. I do not get it..

Just my two cents, but with the Euro getting stronger it may not even be worth 2 cents anymore....

I agree. There are two quite different issues at stake in the question. One has to do with the power of the State, the other has to do with the morality of a specific situation of whether carrying a fetus to term is good or not.

I'd put the question this way: Does the State have the right to coerce a woman to give birth? If the State has the right to coerce a woman to use her uterus for nine months, in what ways is this different than rape, which is a similar kind of coercion?

There's going to be millions of dollars pouring into South Dakota's economy because of this. In addition to signing the anti-abortion statute, the governor also approved a law that would allow private funding of the defense of the law. Checks are pouring in.

Oh, I dunno...but my guess is, if you asked 100 women whether they would rather be raped or have abortion be made illegal, you might gain some insight into how the two are disimilar.

how many of us wish we were aborted regardless of how we were conceived? How many of those who wish they were aborted would agree to a retro-active abortion?

WOuldn't it be ironic if we aborted the one who would have invented the cure for cancer or the one who would develop clean unlimited fuel or the one who would discover the way to ultimate peace on earth?

Now, if Bush's mother had aborted him, it would have been a better place! Works both ways you know.

Is is OK to abort chimpanzees or dogs or horses? I mean, are you pro-life? Or are chimpanzees, dogs and horses not alive? If there are 6 billion people on earth and 5,000 tigers, which individual is more important? Do you believe that the beliefs of one who opposes abortion are more important than those of one who is pro-choice?

Hmmm, if someone had aborted Stalin, Hitler and Pol-Pot there would be what 60 or 70 million people on this planet who would be a bit happer as well (including my grand fathers).
