It sucks... on the bright side, I was feeling burnt out anyways, now I get the opportunity to sell something I really believe in.... myself! My list of references are all VP's and Presidents of national companies, my resume has been out there for a month or two and I've had a couple of good hits. It is a bit of a shock to be out of a job though, the last time was 27 years ago, I've always moved from one straight to another.

Good luck, man! I hope you can parlay it into something you enjoy.

I took a road trip to Los Angeles today!! MANY pic's!!!

Well, I decided to go down there for a hike at Switzer Falls, in the Angeles National Forest on Saturday that I had been invited to go on with some friends. Top heavy with single 'n' lookin women (3-5:1 in my favor lol) so couldn't resist.

Decided to take the new Outback because I had never been in a long trip in it yet. Oh man I should have taken the Mercedes. The seats are MUCH more comfortable. But the Outback makes politer noises at the gas pumps, I will give it that. And with the upgraded sub, the sounds are great.

I beat on a ricer, even with the "Load Warrior" rack on it. hahahaha Took him at 110 mph on I 5 today. LOL Not bad for a stock PZEV 2.5 engine.

Leaving the house this morning:

Coffee! I need coffee!! I CANNOT go anywhere without fueling the driver. Got some at the Lodge up here....

Unh Oh!!! Here comes trouble!!!

After lunch, to the Mitsubishi/Subaru/Honda/Izusu/Suzuki (How's THAT for a depressing corporate litany?) dealer in Lancaster, CA. for the 5k service on the Outback. Beautiful high desert country, hard to believe you are in Los Angeles County.

But life has a tenuous quality out there, in the vast reaches of the open desert, it reminded me of flies sticking to the glass of a window...

First stop, of course, was a visit to Charlie ("chadahar") out at the ranch to visit him again, and of course, to check out the recently acquired lapis blue '84 500SEC euro, that I had heard so much about. His '89 560SEC was at the property too but it was pretty dusty. I wonder which one he likes to drive more.

.

the line up this afternoon

Outback I drove, the '84 euro and the '89

Damn dogs, they never listen, even to Charlie!!!

I should have driven the Mercedes!!!! Darn it!!

(Continued.....)

No one can dispute Charlie's impeccable taste in cars.

No one.

The scenery from the hill was spectacular!!! This is Leona Valley, California, outside of Palmdale. Not what most people think of as Los Angeles county

If I had to make a choice of cars here....what do you think I would pick?

The car is a gem, even though it needs a little finishing, it's wonderful. The exhaust system is great!!!!

We went down the road to "Casa Guiterrez" a Mexican place where everyone in downtown Leona Valley knows Charlie's name, and polished off a huge Margarita....(Thanks Charlie!!) and had some serious Mercedes Benz W126 talk.

Afterwards we went outside to the parking lot for a photo op. Two good friends riding in a good car.

Then it was time to hit the road. We went back to the ranch.

You BELIEVE this!!!?? Freaking buffalo, in Los Angeles county!!!! Here's the proof. This was on the other side of the road from Charlie's place.

The T shirt refers to "Waste Vegetable Oil", which is Mercedes Benz diesel engine fuel sometimes. You can get it in the waste containers that are outside and behind the Kentucky Fried Chicken places, amongst the garbage cans and dumpsters there.

I wore it into a Burger King once and you should have seen the reaction.

Looking for the 4 basic food groups there: Carcinogen, Chloresterol, Fat, and Grease! HA! HA! HA!

^^^^ UFB!!!

crashing the gate in the Mercedes!!!

Finally, it was time to go, to head out to Pasadena, where I am staying for the weekend.

You can't get a better escort out of town than this. Charlie REALLY is skilled, he can drive with verve and skill, and can handle this beast like it was MEANT to be driven. with GUSTO!!!

More tomorrow, maybe....

I don't think I've ever seen a blue one like that before.

Yaaaaa! I have gotten the Dee8gonator reassembled in plenty of time for the trip to Chad's tomorrow. I'll figure out where all those extra screws and stuff go later. It's looking like it will be a great weekend, rain o r shine. Can't wait to meet all you new folks and see everybody else again.

Looks like I won't be needing that wheelborrow after all, Powerpig.

Leaving today: Going to MBCA STARFEST in San Francisco tomorrow

I am off today to drive to Jeremy5848's (from this forum!) home this afternoon

We'll burnish up his '85 300D Turbo biodiesel, and then the next day I will take it to San Francisco and to STARFEST at Treasure Island, where I will try and sell if for him while it's displayed on the Paddock. Jeremy can't go, because he has a Chamber of Comerce meeting that day

It will be fun to see STARFEST, I have not been to one for over ten years. My wife had bought me a ticket for one in Denver in '97 or '98 so I have not been to one for years.

They complain that these events usually attract a lot of old white men who would rather eat food than talk about the cars. I checked the mirror, and I am not there - YET!!!!

MBCA only comes to California to have a STARFEST once in a blue moon so it will be fun to get to see it again.

Plus..... I have a date down there that night AND if I stay over, that night, then another date with a different woman who wants me to show her the city like I showed it to Dee8go and cmac2012 awhile back. Both of them are hotties.

With luck maybe my camera will work, so I can take a pic or two - It started acting up in Beverly Hills last weekend

Why thank you, Jim. I've never had a guy refer to me as a "hottie," and I'll bet Cmac hasn't either.
