Whew, Jim...I'm getting tired just thinking about all that work. The party never ends for you, huh??:D
Me, just getting some beer brewed :beerchug: before I head to sunny Colorado for a couple weeks. Gotta work later, so my brew schedule is kinda tight, but I have enough time during the boil to come and visit peachparts;). It's nice to lay up a few batches before a trip, then the waiting is much easier. Today's batch is a Belgian wit, second Belgian this week. |
ramonajim, I am interested in seeing those pics! Unless...there are dead rats and such in it...
Let's see...today I will be hiding in my room until 3:30 if I can help it...probably will have to go out a couple of times... So...while I'm in here...checking peachparts, doing some sewing...and i dunno about anything else. The rest of the day? Hmm...not sure yet. I may try and hang out with a friend or two...we'll see. Maybe I'll read a little. If I had a pool, I'd be in there, I guess. My body temperature always seems to be hotter than a normal human being. So summer is not my favorite season...but I have A/C blasting in my room...and a bunch of friends who might be willing to have me over and enjoy their pool with them! ^_^ Sadly, I work outside...gardening...stuff...when I do work. Not really my "occupation" though. I hope everyone else enjoys this fine friday. And of course, their weekend. |
Wow, Jim. I won't complain about my late-uncle's pack-rat-edness anymore! We've been trying to clean out his house, yard and the surrounding cottages up in Maine. My parents are planning on keeping his house for a vacation home and selling off the surrounding cottages (that he and my father owned, some of which are in some state of disrepair but all are lakefront). He was a packrat, but more with the lumber, scrap metal, tools and engines. In his case, eventually he would use every piece he saved but it may very well have been over a 10-15 year period. You just never know when you might very well need one of those <2' long 2x4's (ranging in length from a few inches to 2') out of a pile of them.
All the metal would at some point get used on his various snowplowing, road maintenance (they own and maintain a 2 mile dirt road from the main road down to the house and cottages), wood processing equipment, etc. that he made himself. A late-70's Mack enclosed cab firetruck with a homemade 12 foot wingplow, 1960's Hough 4x4 loader with a homemade power-V plow made out of two 6' Fisher plows (each can angle independently) in addition to a homemade, multi-blade roadgrader that he towed behind his truck. Nevermind the 40' crane parked in the front yard, used primarily to fly the car-dealer sized American flag but also seeing duty for launching his homemade submarine. A train car used as a storage shed and two 50 yard dumpsters laid on their side and welded together for his welding shop, loaded with welding equipment and scrap metal. The plan is for a big open house, everything is for sale weekend sometime after July 4th. Every weekend, and parts of many weeks, my parents have spent up there for the better part of two months and this was after the last 6 months of his life he spent sorting and getting rid of in preparation. Once baseball season is over that's where my weekends and parts of weeks will be spent. This weekend's project is to assemble our "new" white trash poverty pool that some friends were getting rid of. Last weekend I spent the better part of two days filling the old one up. Day one I discovered 10 pinholes in the inflatable ring around the top so off to Wallyworld I went to buy a patch kit. By the time I returned I discovered the 10 or so pinholes in the water containing portion. I tried to patch it to no avail. So I filled a couple of rain barrels and watered the yard and garden with the pool water so the several hundred gallons wouldn't be completely wasted. :( And probably some more mulch spreading will occur. It has to occur at some point since it's keeping my boat from getting out the driveway. :o |
You really have some interesting stories to tell, Jim. I'd like to see some pictures of that house. It sounds grand and I know there are some fine old houses in Richmond.

yes, the house story is quite captivating. (i sense being in there is a bit, uh, captivating.) having recently spent six months working for my friend, renovating a somewhat lesser mess - 1906 craftsman, two story, with the help of three dumpsters, two lowboys, and a lot of hard work - i have a slight idea of what you're dealing with. when you get past the gross, disgusting stuff, it starts to actually be, uh, fun. really. the transformation was amazing. and your place sounds like it has, dare i say, potential? anyway, pictures would be appreciated. ( trust me, there's nothing like removing three layers of linoleum and one of plywood, and finding beautiful, surprisingly well preserved hardwood floors. the same with finding beautiful oak underneath twenty layers of paint.)

Just got woke up by the neighbor lady about an hour ago...sump pump on my side of the twin-do needs a rap on the up-pipe (probably too much laundry lint is hanging up the "filled-sensor" trip wire).
Anyways, checked the InterBank and found that the "payday fairies" came by and sprinkled a little "payday dust" into my accounts. When the hell is the ogre with that truckload of "payday gravel" ever going to arrive? The weather-geeks are predicting that there's going to be large quantities of light today followed by a short span of darkness...other than that, they're about as "on target" with their one-two-day forecasts as the accuracy of a blind man competing in an archery tournament. " F O R E ! " Hey! Otherwise, have a great weekend...and try to pray for dry... |

Already Saturday here in muggy Ipoh. Friday was hang out at the factory and try not to go mad with boredom, then a crappy dinner at what is supposedly the best restaurant within walking distance of my hotel.
Today? No clue. Was hoping to sleep in, but failed at that one (it's only 7:27 ayem here, and I've been awake for more than an hour). May grab a taxi and go to a temple built into a mountain. May go sit in the pool. May just sit in my room and whine :P |

My youngest daughter graduated from high school yesterday. We have a party for her tomorrow and another barbeque after that. Other than that I think I'll kick back and relax this weekend.
|
Congratulations to your daughter Tom!
We're going to Hershey Park this weekend and staying at The Hershey Hotel. I'm anxious to try the chocolate soup at their restaurant. I'm also excited for my kids. This will be their first time to an amusement park and with the theme being chocolate, they are pretty amped up.:D |
Thanks, Chad. Chocolate soup sounds pretty good. We'll be awaiting your review of it. I love Hershey Park. Have fun.
