Congrats on the B day JD!

Glad to hear Ted will be back, I do miss him. If anyone does talk to him send him my best!

Anyway tomarrow I'm off to the hunting and fishing show in Hartford. Check out a couple shot guns, and a few fly rods...in general stuff to blow my money on.

Sunday I think I will work on the SD a bit, need to change out a shock and probably should wash some salt off. It was black, now its white!

Since I have Monday off as well for some reason, presidents day I guess. I'll do some research for an important business trip to Brazil I will be making in a few weeks.

Oh and pound a few beers with my buddies one night, maybe Sunday...

Went to see Ghost Rider.

Feel like a kid again! I left the movie theatre thinking "Now I need to hop on my Sting Ray bike and race off making motorcycle sounds." I have a feeling that most of you here would love this flick. It'll make you feel like a kid again.

Hence, my new avatar.

More caliper painting

This weekend, W124 will be the last of the fleet to get the painted caliper treatment...CLK and ML are done.

VW doesn't count as it has drums...but they were painted black long ago...

Powder-coat them instead.

Why play games? Just have them powder-coated, and be done with it. That's my plan for mine. Not very expensive these days, and it will outlast the paint by several years, instead you'll need to repaint them, soon, just because of heat, and weather. Powdercoat is almost impervious to both of these elements, and looks better, for longer period of time.

Powdercoating is fine, except that you have to dismantle the whole caliper assembly to do that. Not something I would care to get into, especially with perfectly good ones...pricey to replace if I screw up.

I'm using brake caliper enamel, not ordinary paint. Did the wife's calipers last year and they still look new. Not much impact to the paint with Texas weather anyway...

Watch daughter tear up turf at soccer this weekend of course. Then bass playing at church with the band all weekend.

Limp 300E over to indie for the head gasket job.

Start dismantling damaged portions of the portable basketball goal for replacement. High winds last weekend tossed it over and bent some components beyond repair.

I had the same thing happen earlier this winter. Unfortunately it's a mid-priced Huffy so I'm not sure I can get parts for it or not.

It's raining like a sum***** and in the mid-30's so I'm thinking another movie night at home with the kids is in order. Blankets and pillows on the floor, a fire in the fireplace, popcorn and a coupla beers (Light of course ). I bought a 32" Vizio HD LCD so our movie nites got a little better.

I'm glad you've decided to fix your 300E instead of dumping it. It's really too nice to give up on it, especially considering all the work you've put into it.

No work this weekend. Ah yes. Kickin' it with 'da snow.

The 600 is tucked away due to crappy roads, so I'm driving an Audi A6. That thing rocks in this ****.

Mine wasn't a very expensive unit ($299 tops if I recall). Called the number on the instruction manual, and the person I spoke with gave me price quotes on each part I named. Most expensive was the base (the post ripped that apart...$75), which makes me wonder what rocket scientist decided that you could hold a 100+ lb basketball goal assembly using a metal braket attached to a molded plastic base??!!!

Was going to take it in at the start of the week, but the wife balked. Took all week to convince her...

If that's the case maybe I've got a shot. I doubt I can find the manual but I'll have to see if I can find it online. The thing blew over and the plexiglass backboard shattered (it bent the collapsible rim upwards too but I got that and the bracket straightened out). It's attaced to the frame with double sided foam tape so I don't know if I can just get the plexiglass itself or if I need to buy the whole backboard unit. If I have to buy the whole thing I'll probably just go buy another new one.
