Yeah, G, if you do as good a job on that as you did on your office/studio, it should be pretty swell-looking.

Finally 60's+ and sun!!!! Our April has been colder on avg. than our January was this year. Lotsa yardwork to do Saturday afternoon after I get out of work. I might even go riding mower shopping. I'm trying to decide between a homeowner zero-turn (Toro or Husqvarna) or a lawn tractor, probably a Craftsman (I have my grandfather's 1970 Sears Suburban tractor which unfortunately the mower deck is long gone, otherwise it still runs strong). I'm debating whether or not the extra mowing speed and maneuverinig ability of a ZT is worth an extra grand. It would put me at the top of the neighborhood mowing food chain, though. Either way it's a fun decision to have to make.

Be carefull with the howeowner versions of zero turn. The hydraulic drives are cheap and most are not cooled - they are pricey when they burn out.

Weather is splendid here, going to take the SD on a road trip to New Orleans tomorrow

Thanks for that heads-up TX. I'm just curious, do you know if that is the case with just homeowner use or is it due to cheap landscapers buying them for commercial use?

Media Room "Before" pics...

Everyone seems to have a room where "everything else" seems to get tossed in? Well, this one is THE room.

All other rooms in the house are decorated and furnished. Toys and junk wind up here. Now that my daughter has grown up a bit, I can reclaim it for what is was supposed to be...the "media room".

No plans on making it look like a $75,000 home theater, but a little paint, carpeting, updated furniture, and some imagination should get things looking fine.

The wife is partial to "earth tones", so I don't get to go wild on colors. Nevertheless, here is the clean slate I get to start out with.

This weekend, I am only going to paint this section of the room. Then I can decide if the colors will work out:

Oh yeah, even though we put in room-darkening blinds years ago, these are SCREAMING for window treatments...

This stuff has GOT to GO!!!

Under-floor cabling allows the use of several components without having wires traveling across the floor. Old TV stand serves as a temporary console until a more suitable piece of furniture can be procured:

Cheap but effective (Home Depot) wall sconces installed years ago will be blended into whatever theme I come up with:

Ok...gotta head to the hardware store for materials...got painting to do!

Cool *** A Friday night concert... ***

Last night - I posted but it didn't stick...

Here's another shot...

Got back from working as "security" at a "CAKE" concert at Winona State University...

Interesting group...I recognized three of their tunes...two of them I heard on the radio and never heard the name of the song or group and the third had some phrase that the crowd chanted throughout the whole song..."Sheep go to heaven - goats go to hell." I'm not sure what that was in reference to, but then, our parents never understood what we listened to...I guess that's poetic justice...

Anyways, I ended up being a "Gate-Nazi" - no pass, no entry behind the fence.

Pretty tame for a college conert ... two body-surfers, one "vide-iot" and one puker.

Guess who was near me? Yep. The puker.

That stuff smells worse than an over-filled cat-box.

Anyways, my dogs were shot...I finally got the leather off 'em and boy-howdy, that felt dang good...

Now it's about 0930 this Saturday morning and I'm gettin' ready to take the wife and the two of us are headin' out to drown a few worms...

Tally forthcoming...

Bought them about seven years ago at Home Depot...about $30 apiece. I believe they still carry them.

Uses a 150W halogen element, so make sure you have a switch that is up to the task.

There are four in this room and the idiots that did the electricals during home construction installed a 250W capacity dimmer....DUH! Do the math (4 x 150W = 600W)!!

Needless to say, the control panel was EXTREMELY hot after a few minutes of turning on the sconces!

Replaced with a 1000W dimmer and all was well.
