89 Olds Toronado slams into reverse... help plz

Shoot, do what my buddy did with the 93 300E he bought from me...park it so you never have to put it in reverse. He finally broke down and put a junkyard tranny in it after his wife parked it in a spot she couldn't get out of because it wouldn't pull in reverse.
