Of course it's a word. The botanist uses it all the time.

And therein Ernesto lies your fallacy.

I'm conservative and I believe the average person is a moron. I'm quite pleased with letting them spend their hard earned money on most issues.

It is my favorite Bushism because I find it usefully combines the two factors that most frequently lead people astray of their own volition. I hope it survives Bush's reign and becomes part of the political vocabulary.

Like 'gerrymander,' for instance. Great word, it was created for a political cartoon but proved so descriptive that it has stuck. I'm guessing that Gerry was a Repo or a Whig maybe? Wiki knows, I'm sure.

Brian, you are the oddest conservative yet.

Thinking that the average person is a moron is your failing. It is not my fallacy to give credit to people for being able to figure things on their own out w/o politicos chewing it and digesting it for them.

Incidentally, what is an "ad hoc theorem?"

I saw you use that term in reference to one of Bot's posts and I am still scratching my head over that.

From the wonderful people at Wiki:

Gerrymandering is a controversial form of redistricting in which electoral district or constituency boundaries are manipulated for an electoral advantage. The word "gerrymander" is named for the American politician Elbridge Gerry (July 17, 1744 – November 23, 1814)[1], and is a portmanteau of his name and the word "salamander," which was used to describe the appearance of a tortuous electoral district Gerry created in order to disadvantage his electoral opponents. "Gerrymander" is used both as a verb meaning "to commit gerrymandering" as well as a noun describing the resulting electoral geography. Ideally, it is pronounced with a hard G, as with Elbridge Gerry's actual name, but ignorance of this has made the "jerry" pronunciation common.

Well, you asked.............

Definitely.

Hardly a failing. It's an observation. People prove it every day. You ignore them. I make a mental note of their behavior. I could write a book.

It's your fallacy to conclude that one must be a liberal to properly observe human behavior.

An ad hoc theorem would be one of Bot's creations to fit his analysis.

PS Whatever happened to that series from which you occasionally posted in which American Indians were sketched into modern cityscapes? I'm sorry you stopped those, I thought they were pretty cool.
I just about ran out of his material. The artist is an old friend, but one I haven't seen in about 10 years. Lives in Seattle.

You can find more of his stuff online -- search for Jon Strongbow.

Wahlll... it is kinda fickle the way Americans jumped up and down for more and more Detroit heavy ahrn and then turned away with a "I think I'll try one of these cute little Japanese numbers" soon as gas prices went through the roof.

Exactimo. Even Repos are straying from him.

This business about W being smarter than everyone thinks due to winning elections.... (disclaimer -- W is not as bad as Hitler) Hitler was pretty successful at arousing noisy popular support and I don't see anyone calling him a genius, unless the word "evil" is placed in front.

Where, oh where, have I written (or for that matter concluded) that, "...one must be a liberal to properly observe human behavior."

Or is that an ad hoc argument, created just to fit this particular situation?

Carl...whoever drew the drawings you posted must have been doing some heavy duty s**t.

Reminds me of an early Santana album cover.

(Man, I miss album cover artwork).

Just voted in the Republican primary here last week. Why would I want to be a Democrat?
