Push Poll
Back to the Thread. She was a decent person and a good govenor with the misfortune of coming up for re-election at a time when many Texans were pissed off at Clinton and also couldn't take a joke when she made her famous "stick a fork in him-he's done" comment about Daddy Bush when he lost to Clinton.
AND--we were receiving phone calls in true Push Poll fashion that were most likely initiated by Rove. I got two such calls, one at my home in Brian and the other at my office in College Station. Both claimed to be Poll takers. One asked if I would still be inclined to vote for Richards if it came out that she used Cocaine and is an alcoholic, and the other asked if I would be influenced if I found out that she was a lesbian. The lady never deserved that kind of smear campaign. If someone is respected for their integrity Rove attacks their integrity. He goes for their srtrong point, not their weakness, to counter his candidate's weakness. Remember how he made an issue of Kerry's military service when his candidate was seen to be lacking in that area. I found it quite Ironic when the DWI records on Bush came out after Rove made an issue of Ann's past drinking problem. Anyway, I thought this was about Ann Richards and the smearing she got from Karl Rove. Bob |

1 : a large suitcase 2 : a word or morpheme whose form and meaning are derived from a blending of two or more distinct forms (as smog from smoke and fog) I first heard it on the W.C. Fields movie, "International House," where he used it to describe a large compartment on his aeroplane that opened up to reveal a small car (!?!). Ahh, William Claude, smile down upon us in our hour of anxiety and grief.

I first saw the guy at an open mike at a coffee house in Seattle's U-district. A bit odd looking at first, tall and skinny, he came up to the mike, produced a music stand (!?), and was dressed in tights with a long attached tail (double !?). He proceeded to sing a song about kimodo dragons complete with a monkey sort of oo-oo-oo-ee-ee-ee... He was surprisingly entertaining and we performed at the same open mikes many times in then next few years -- went traveling to fairs together a few times.
