should I slow down?

Not in my car. I kinda do speed limit now but with work and school

Tomorrow I work 3pm to 11pm( which means when ever I'm done after 11). Then sunday I am going to my warehouse job and pulling a 6am to probably 12 am -2 am (big electronics show breaks saturday).. Then get up at 6 and go to school... then at 3 go to the grocery store til 11.. (Im thinking of just calling out at the grocery store.)

I do maintain a 3.75 GPA... even with two jobs, a girlfriend, classic mercedes, volunteer hours, and sleep time... Without redbull!..

I ask because lately everyone has been commenting me on how much I look like crap or don't seem to be myself lately..

It may seem like a lot, but all three of my college-going daughters have similar schedules and time commitments.

Compared to them, I was a total slacker.

Hard work won't kill you.

What will kill you is lack of balance.

You need to somehow find, in your busy schedule, some time to enjoy yourself and have some fun.

You are to be commended for your hard work, but don't forget to have fun too.

However you define fun, that's what you gotta do.

For me it is going bike riding, playing with my trains (not so much time lately) and tinkering with the 300CE.

Balance is the key.

When I was 21-24 and living in the City I had a similar problem of finding balance between my responsibilities and my need for pleasure and relaxation.

Granted,at that time I had a helluva lot more energy, thought I knew everything about my business and could successfully juggle my life careerwise and personally,my solutions became a habit in order to allow me to cope psychologically with all the pressures my life entailed.

I burned myself out at 26 by working too hard and playing too hard as a conscious rebellion, then I retreated back to the 'burbs to engage in less strenuous forms of remuneration, although not neglecting the pleasure aspect.

I sort of did something similar. It took me having my first three kids to realize that more money in the bank but less time with them was a surefire recipe for trouble.

So I too retreated to the suburbs and the relative leisurely life of a rural county prosecutor (compared to a big city-big lawfirm lawyer).

I've had no regrets.

Alas, however, that expensive AMG rocket keeps getting further and further out of reach.

Oh well....my life is well balanced and my kids don't hate me!

There will always be some fastest rocket beyond what we can grasp without comming apart in the effort. As long as you can enjoy the reaching for what you can hold, you might find yourself with a better view of the blur going by than you would ever have been able to imagine. Sounds like you made a good choice.

The greatest legacy any parent can bequeath to their children is not only unconditional love but the equally important idea that the HOME is for pleasure and enjoyment and one does not spend valuable family hours with martini in hand railing against one's employers and bringing home the burden of one's work and it's attendant disappointments.

The most difficult thing to achieve is this clean distinction between homelife and the pressures of employment, some do it very well, humans are,if nothing else, easily adaptable to circumstance.

If only more people thought the same way.

Some of the most messed up kids I met back in high school, were the one's that were pre-occupied with status symbols and what mom and dad did for a living. It's almost like these kids were living through mom and dad, and defined themselved by the job successes and failiures of the parents. They had no sense of identity.

Just make sure you get some good sleep from time to time. Find one whole day to relax every couple of months. At your age, you can go on and on, and you should do that. But now and then, have a good laugh, some sex, a drink and take a nap!

I'm concerned about your lack of rest...which is why acquaintances say you look like crap.

Sleep is not something you should take lightly...your body needs it for a reason.

Lack of it will cause you to start making lapses in judgement (read: mistakes)...in some cases tragic...which is why truckers and air traffic controllers are limited by law as to maximum number of hours they can work per day.

I don't want to read about you passing out in your car from lack of sleep and wrapping you (and your girlfriend) around a tree!

Ehh for the past month I have been slacking a bit, but between school and work I'm used to putting in 12-18 hour days 5-7 days a week. Such is life, but man once I get out of school and only work like 50ish hours a week, its going to feel like vacation!

I forget who said this but I like this saying a lot. "You should only work half a day, whether its the first 12 hours or the second is up to you."

Well you have to play as hard as you work.

My motto is "Work hard and play harder, screw sleep you can do that when you die."

If these are people who know you, and who you trust then you have your answer. Slow down. We're often too close to our own problems to be objective.
If it's a bunch of college kids who just sobered up from their last binge, ignore 'em.
