Need help on repairing small spots of peeled paint

Allright, almost time to sell the escort. So far, I've got around $250 into it, including everything... Needs another $200 to be in darn nice shape, needs like $100 to be a good driver. Needs two tires, and an allignment... Should really get a new axle, and e-brake cables. No big deal on either of thoose two. Leave it in gear and it doesnt move, and the axle's only an issue above 60 (wheel vibrations)

There's a dent in the back, it's been there a while, but where the paint's peeled away it's starting to get some really light surface rust... I'd like to take care of that. Also, around the rear wheel wells, some of the paint's peeled away, and theres some surface rust going on... NOT RUST THROUGH, just really light surface rust...

How do you fix that? There's no real rust, but it's a metallic green which I've HEARD is tough to match... I'm gonna pull the dent in the back also, so tips on that would be appreciated. Meta'ls bent in about 2", no crinkles, just like somebody backed into a pole once, and only replaced the bumper...

Thanks alot everybody, I really appreciate it
~Nate

Guys, screw macco

I'd like to DIY a good job that will last a while... This car "might" be going to my cousin, and I'm not gonna unload a chitty car on a 16 year old girl who I'm blood related too... Wouldnt be right IMHO

I think NAPA mix's paint in spray cans, but I'm fishing for tips on how to do it...

I think I know the basics. Sand to remove rust, sand/bondo (ONLY IF NEEDED) to smooth, mask it off, prime, paint, then clear... but yeah, any more info?

Tks alot

~Nate

Forget the rattle cans. You know that you really want to buy a compressor and spray gun. Then you can reduce the paint properly, and use activated paint if desired.

A rattle can will give you a crappy job, Maaco will do it better in that case. Buy a cheap spray gun and compressor, the results will be much better. Or you could just brush on Rustoleum as said above, it won't look perfect but it will stop the rust. On a $250 car who cares if the paint is messed up.

because there's only two dents in the car, and it looks pretty good for a `95... I just dont like rust.

It's a nice looking car, metallic green, mag wheels... Squirrles tail and Army tag hanging off the antenna

My uncle has a compresser, and a SMALL airbrush... I'm not looking to repaint the car, I just wanna fix thoose small size peelings (nothing bigger then an old .50 peice)

let me know if anyones got more suggestions

All this work on this car and it'll still be a cheap beater that will probably be crashed by the driver you're intending to give it to!

It will take some prep to match a metallic paint.

Head to your local paint supplier and let them "gun" the paint to be able to mix you a small batch of matched paint to use.

You will need to scuff the panel and remove all wax, fill any damage and prime any bare spots. You will have to blend the base color and clear the whole panel for the best effect.

If you want a cheap way out get Preval spray bottles, clean the area and spray away.
