That W220 looks pretty good for that mileage, looks like it has a lot of life left in it too...

About 1200 miles a week... (is that correct?)

Traveling salesman or misprint?

That's either 56,000 miles per year, OR the computer malfunctioned because "they" decided to change to Daylight Savings time 3 weeks early.

As I write this, my buddy's 2006 S500 sits on its bump stops, courtesy of the AirMatic having very little Air, and even less Matic.

It all depends on the car. I know of a 2003 S600 thats having its issues right now because preventative maintainence wasnt performed on time. Other than it not running well, its in great shape. Interior, body, paint, wheels are all in perfect shape.

Hat, I think their quality was a bit on the questionable side for a while, but as of late, I think its come back. They were, are, and will certainly be great cars.

On a side note, I got into a talk with one of my friends about cars. He admits his Acura doesnt have the same feeling of a soul that all of my cars do. He admits that there is a connection to the car that you get when you drive it, that he just doesnt get with his Acura.

Look at the gas and brake pedals. Worn out. But the steering wheel looks great. Must have changed it in the last 100,000 or so, eh?

Check out the new Consumer Report car edition. It shows MB at the bottom of everything.

That may be true. Although most people on this forum and other MB forums will claim that Consumer Reports surveying technique is unfair in most respects and completely biased.

However Mercedes-Benz throughout the '80s and early '90s dominated all standings in both Consumer Reports and JD Powers by offering the most satisfying ownership experience of any car made for their time. Even at their exorbitant (much more so than today) pricing levels.

My brother used to lease Audis and MB. His last MB actually spent more time in the shop in Austin than on the road. He told me that the repair history computer printout on his last MB was 13 ft. long. He has an Avalon now and says that is so much better than an MB as to make no odds.

for that mileage they're insane to be asking that price. I almost picked up a 2000 S430 for much less than that with 120K on it.

Agreed. I wouldn't pay half what they're asking.

By comparison, look at the S600 Sedan with 85K miles for 18K at the bottom right of this listing while this one with almost 300K is asking 17K.

Hard to understand the thinking.

Yeah with that mileage I'd be thinking half that price.

I used to see A LOT of these high mileage W220's when I was a service writer at MB. They were mostly airport limos or executive taxis.. that sorta thing. Don't kid yourselves, the upkeep is serious $$$. Logically speaking, any car with a decent chassis can rack up the infinite miles as long as everything else is replaced... does that make it reliable?
