MM's SiCKO coming out soon:

I have seen it and warn you repubs to hold back your critique before seeing it. MM did make it bipartisan and its a movie worth watching, I might watch it again.

Thought it would be a complete load of **** but from reading about it, it seems like it will have it's good points. Mostly interested in his assessment of the health care industry, but I don't give a crap about any of his ideas he will probably spit out. I'd like to learn more about the problems, but not his solution.

It's floating around video sites I watched it on Youtube, MM said it's ok to pirate his stuff back in the F911 days so I could not turn him down.

I am sure it will make plenty of news over the weekend which will spell out exactly what its about. I can't wait to see the rebuttal of the drug and health insurance companies, there are many points they can argue but they cannot disguise the fact that our health payment system is a shame.

He was on Howard Stern's show the other morning talking about this. I am not a fan of Michael Moore's, but I will go to see this with an open mind. Our health care system is a mess and neither of the two partys seem to be doing anything to improve it.
The thought of getting to that age where I will have more and more need of themedical resources scares the S--t out of me!

The government will save us with the National Healthcare System. Because everything they do works as intended and is incredibly efficient.

But just in case, I will invest wisely and put away enough money so that I don't have to count them for healthcare and the defunct-by-the-time-I-need-it Social Security.

While I do agree that the Gov can screw anything up MM's point is that we have police, fire, noaa, ngs and other government agencies why can't we work on a universal health plan? All of our "equals" have universal health plansto take care of its citizens, their systems work because they practice preventive medicine. doctors get bonuses if patients lose weight, quit smoking, lower cholesterol ect.

Personally I paid $800 minimum a month for health care for 5 years while I was self employed because my wife quit work to care for our children at the end of the 5 years I was paying more than $950 and it was going to be bumped to more than $1000. Luckily my VA disability was approved and I have care for my pre-existing condition, it took 10 years to get that. I took a "job" solely for medical benefits for my family because and extra $12,000 a year is a hard swallow in a crappy economy.

One of MM's points is that insurance is part of the enslavement of a workforce which I do agree with.

I do urge all of my neo-con, righty, Bush rah rah collegues to watch it with an open mind, I think MM hit a home run on this one.

If you don't trust me listen to the reviews Fox News gave it an A+ and called it "brilliant".

I'd like to see nationalized health too but don't believe for a minute that it is a silver bullet for the health care crisis in the US. Australia and the UK both have nationalized care but if you want anything like quality medical help or, want to be seen for an ailment sometime before you die of it, you are almost forced to go to a private practitioner.

I have a young couple as clients who hold dual citizenship.. US and the land of their birth. He needed a couple of stents to open clogged heart arteries.

Went back to the motherland and had the job done for a measly $800.00 US.

I'm just guessin', but the same thing here probably would have been $10-15,000 even if done on an outpatiet same day basis, which I don't know they do yet.

Just wondering though. In the lands of cheap health costs, are the people free to sue the Docs & providers for botched jobs..real or imagined...as they are here?

I don't know if you were replying to me specifically, Swamp, but I didn't mean to imply that I expect the gumment to take care of health care. I only meant that I'd like to maybe see a little legislative pressure on the whole health care industry to resolve some of their issues with waste and redundancy, overly complicated billing and administrative procedures, etc. If they can regulate theutilities and things like that, maybe they could regulate health care some.

I know that's rather vague. I certainly don't have the answers, but we have plenty of smart people in the US who either have them or could find them. We just need to find the political will to do something about this issue.

Is that really true though? I think that was our own media washing our heads further research proves otherwise. The UK has lower infant mortality and longer lifespan; as does Cuba so they have to be doing something right.
