With breakfast it was two raw eggs and a spoon full of sugar mixed in condensed milk. I hated it but I have never had a cavity

With all due respect to our parent's culinary skills . . . when it comes to the preparation of "sweetbreads" or "internal organs" they were probably not cooking it properly and your tastebuds were forever scarred by it.

and if you don't go thru that ancient process (developed by the Aztecs I believe), then you don't get access to the nurtients in the corn . . . and you can't make the masa for tortillas!

Tongue is excellent if cooked properly.

Spinach from the can....love it with a little vinegar....fresh in a salad, too. Yum.

Once about 25 years ago I went to the store with my mrs. and bought a tongue. It was like 9 cents a pound. So I got out the cook book and did all the things you need to do to make it palatable. I then fixed spagetti sauce and used the tongue. My brother came over for supper and was sitting there with a big plate of spagetti.....eating away.....and said "wow this meat is really good and tender....what is it?" I said "tongue". His fork stopped two inches from his mouth and he did not take another bite.

I was not trying to pimp him either. Who knew he couldn't stand the idea of eating tongue?

I figure if the locals eat it it must be ok. Squid, octopus, whatever. But I don't like catfish. Raised too far north I think.
