They are fitted to my car and look great. Much better than expected, especially in the dark.

However, I think the bodyshop may have wired them up wrongly. Both driver and passenger door sills are wired to the contact switch on the driver's door. This means the passenger door sill illuminates only if the driver's door is open, regardless of whether the passenger door is open or closed. Is this correct? Surely not?

Can anybody help? David C-Klasse, do your door sills work like this?

JJRodger,
Interesting... Both of mine light up whenever either front door is open. So the drivers door can open, and both will light up, and same with the passenger door.
Your passenger door should be lighting up every time a front door is open too... take it back and have them corrected!
CONGRATULATIONS ON THE PURCHASE! My, do you have good taste!

Do they have these for the SL? The grey interior is kinda boring, but I don't want to break the bank loading it up with all of those wood-grained add-ons...

They should have them for the SL. In fact, I'm pretty sure they definitely have them and that it was from a photograph of a SL that I first got the idea.

I was at the Goodwood Festival of Speed this weekend (checkout http://www.goodwood.co.uk and navigate the motorsport menu), the theme was 100 years of Mercedes-Benz. In the MB tent was a SL500 "Silver Arrow" which has illuminated door sill plates with a special design.

I have to say, they look great at night, really worth every penny. On Firday and Saturday nights I stayed at my club in St James's Square in London. Pulling up outside and opening the door gave me the greatest pleasure... if only it was a SL and not a humble C...

You had your chance; I told you to buy that SL...
The illuminated doorsills should lighten up whenever one of the two front doors is opened (just like the entrance lights under in the doors). Have the shop reconnect the doorsills.

G-Benz: YES they are available for the SL as well (have looked at them, but thought that I better finish the other mods first).

greetingz,
