International 2400 loader/backhoe...anyone?

I've been looking for a cheap backhoe to use around the ranch and have found a IH 2400. Seller says he parked it and it hasn't run in a yr or two.
I've been searching all the tractor forums for info on this machine and have come up nil.
Longshot here... just wondering if anyone here is familiar with the IH-2400?

Could the mod just move my post there.

I'm registered up on so many tractor forums now I'm loosing track.

Its a nice little machine. Guessing it weighs aroud 8Klbs. Seller priced it right but I have to put in sweat equity. A fresh battery failed to spin it fast enough. Pulled the starter and found a broken brush spring. Got that replaced so maybe a trip this weekend to see if she starts.
One thing that concerns me is the seller said the backhoe boom failed to swing last time he started it. It uses a rack and pinion mechanism where the rack has a hydraulic cylinder piston on each end, all one piece. Pinion gear is fixed to the boom (I believe).
The parts are NLA. Seller says it worked then it didn't so, no way would this be bad. I know... "AC only needs freon" kinda story.
All the pins and bushings look to be tight. Cylinder rods were clean, smooth.
No leaks that I could find.
I offered scrap value as it sits but he didn't budge.

Mandatory three reply post before I can post there. I'm starting to feel like a troll over there. May take a while before I'm taken serious.

We're spoiled by Mercedesshop. There's not a lot of traffic over there and you NEVER see anyone posting in the middle of the day like this bunch of slackers.

Just go in the Dozer section and post a couple on the Komatsu D20 thread...that will get you in so you can post.

I hope that's not your dozer not pulling on the left track.

I found a Case 450 TL, Chev single axle dump truck and a trailer last week for $12K. Closer inspection revealed problems with every piece.

Folks just seem to use this stuff up. The dozer had a bungee cord for a throttle return spring. Dump truck was missing the air breather on the grease covered "new engine".
Long iron here is going for around $4.50/100lbs is what I told the guy.

I guess I should have kept my dozer but I really need a backhoe.

It has the D179 three cylinder diesel engine. I believe the 2400 is the industrial version of the AG IH 454. No PTO.
Seller is asking $3K which I might do if it works. Otherwise, scrap value.

I'm a bit worried about the shuttle shift and the boom swing mech. Rest of it is just hydraulic cylinders, hoses, pumps which could be had easy enough.

I'm running to try to get it started here shortly. We'll see what happens.

I'm guessing around 8-9K lbs which I can haul on my trailer no problem.

The boom not swinging concerns me. I'm sure its a hydraulic issue.

Thanks Randy for pointing me to the HEF site.

Here's a pic.

Your negotiating power can be reduced when you fix the vehicle before closing the deal.

I have heard good things about that tractor. There was a 2400A and a 2400B. Buy the right manuals. I think the agricultural equivalent was a 464? It may still be made in India. If it's not broken and welded back together you probably got a good deal. Funky multilever controls, but you can do it. Funky starting fluid injection too.
