One of the trips to the local Stealership:

A guy is just picking up his E55AMG. Apparently this was his third time back. His BRAKES squeeled

well damn, you bought an AMG - Ceramic is standard, and will squeel (it normal, and almost impossible to stop...)

I was asked to look at a car that was running before the owner installed a new battery.Car would not start with new battery. The owner had left the red plastic protector on the positive terminal and installed the positive lead to the now nicely insulated battery post. I was cool about the deal and casually told him it wasn't needed.

At least he didn't install it backwards...

That will keep it from corroding

When I was traveling in Europe in 1973 we were in the campground in Marakech Morrocco. These two young Americans came up to me for a third opinion.

One fellow wanted to drive out into the desert and drain the oil then drive back to the campground and fill it up. The other fellow didn't want to do it.

I said I wouldn't even start it up without oil in the sump.

I think she meant to say what I call them transverse engines. Transvestite engines.

I would have said "No. Do you want me to install them for you for a small fee?".

Why not? I know my HEUI Powerstroke will not since it uses oil to fire the injectors but why won't most cars start without oil in the sump?

I see now what you are talking about. Still, I am not sure I would have said that. I might have said "Sure, go take it to the desert and dump the oil there and drive back to fill it up.".

I suppose you are right. There might be limits to what I can do for humor if it hurts fine machinery or dogs.
