Good catch. It looks to be a nice one, without any rust or rot.

These Mercedes cars of these years are absolutely famous for having ONLY the blue dashborads - not any other color, crack because of the color. You will be looking at likely a dash cap, a new dash or a $20 flea market dash cover at some point.

The car has the normal cracks and creases on the driver's seat, the side bolsters, especially the left hand one, the worst. (That is typical for these).

If it was me, I would address it with a nice pair of Ramshead sheepskins.

Ask JohnHef to look at your coolant; the overflow tank seems to show traces of the wrong colored fluid in there. It that's so, it would be wise todrain it and replace it with the correct MB fluid. You never mentioned the actual milage the car has on it, so it might be time for a coolant flush.

These are very robust, sturdy, cars, and I hope this one came with a full complement of books and records. If it didn't (or maybe even if it did), to ensure the longest life, you might want to check and drain/flush ALL fluids, ie, Auto trans, LOF, rear diff, coolant, brake lines, etc. just to start out from a brand new time and mileage base line.

Your air cleaner looks pretty dull, but several applications (wearing disposable gloves) of Nev-R-Dull should bring forth a beautiful polish.

Does it have a hardtop? If not, one in the right color should not be to difficult to obtain from a pick 'n' pull, or other used parts source. The soft tops can deteriorate from lack of use, it is said.

It is a very lovely looking car.

You will like driving it (unless you are over 6', then it will be a bit cramped inside)

Very nice looking car, Mis! The Mrs. would like an SL for her escape car. I'm willing to oblige as long as we can find the right 500/560 for those times I might just need to escape, too.

I found her on "Craisglist" and recognized the owners name as someone from the Forum and a he only lives 10 minutes away....it was meant to be. I already called the insurance company, got my temporary trip permit, picked out the seat covers and tomorrow my boss is letting me come alittle late so I can get the tags.wooohoooooo.

Very nice car. I am jealous! There is no feeling like being in a ragtop during the Spring.

Good luck!

Haha. "One ringy dingy. Two ringy dingies!!"

"Here at the Phone Company we handle eighty-four billion calls a year. Serving everyone from presidents and kings to scum of the earth. (snort) We realize that every so often you can't get an operator, for no apparent reason your phone goes out of order [snatches plug out of switchboard], or perhaps you get charged for a call you didn't make. We don't care. Watch this [bangs on a switch panel like a cheap piano] just lost Peoria. (snort) You see, this phone system consists of a multibillion-dollar matrix of space-age technology that is so sophisticated, even we can't handle it. But that's your problem, isn't it ? Next time you complain about your phone service, why don't you try using two Dixie cups with a string. We don't care. We don't have to. (snort) We're the Phone Company!" -- Lily Tomlin from "Saturday Night Live: The First 20 Years" (1994 Cader Company).
