They go where the money is. As soon as you have an idea that works, ya'all just bring it on over cause you'll be acclaimed a hero.

This is not an easy dilemma to get out of.

Mexico's population went from something like 20 million in the 40s to 110 million now. My numbers might be off a bit but it's in the ballpark.

And then my good bud, the long lost Peragro, tells me that over-population is in no way a reality or a problem.

Fine the hell out of the companies that employ them and jail the owners.

Won't work. Many of the employers are small time homeowners and or contractors (I've done it about 5 times myself) and it'd be a lot of trouble and cause all sorts of friction.

Somehow, Mexico needs to get that families of 5, 6, and 10 kids don't work anymore. Otherwise, it's sort of like freezing atoms of water breaking up mountains. The pressure of people, doubling in number every 20 or 30 years, is enormous.

Not "wont". More like "Don't have the will". I want to triple my income next year too. Only if I don't have to do anything different or work harder. Business as usual except for the triple income bit.

And if they won't? WGAS what they get or don't get. We need to take care of business here first. As I said, whether we have the will or not is what decides whether it will work. Just nicely asking them to leave hasn't, isn't and won't cut it.

So far, the options have been to spend major $$ to round them up and deport them, and then do it again 6 months later.

The guest worker idea has some merit, cause as it is now, once they manage to get in, they stay here cuz it'll be too hard to go back and forth.

In the older days, they'd come and make some money picking fruit, etc. and then go back home. Now they stay, and move up the ladder into construction, etc., even though many of them would like to go back home.

Kinda like swatting flies who are swarming around a carcass, isn't it? Yes, you get a few to move but they will be back. Again, what happens when you remove the carcass? You could swat all day and spend all kinds of energy but at the end of the day, you have the same result, don't you?

As long as the industry can demonstrate a need for a person, I don't have an issue with that.

So would I but that isn't happening either, is it?

In fact, no such report exists. INS, the agency that supposedly produced the report, ceased to exist in 2003.
