Don't give up man.

You could still salvage the Delorean dream by putting the $1,500 into coke and turning it over a few times...

IMHO you shouldn't buy toys with loans.

Debt should only be taken on with investments, to make you money.

well, seeing as a Deloran appreciates with quality, plus they are fairly rare... I think I can turn this little car into a fair chunk of change.

Lord have mercy, cars are such a scary investment, no phyme or reason to it. Even if it appreciates significantly, the cost to keep and feed and insure a car is such that unless values go nuts like some late 60's muscle cars, it's still something you should do for fun, not to retire on.

tonkovich 08-15-2008 12:33 AM

buy a car as an investment?

i think we call this a rationalization.:D

but don't worry, you are not alone. i remember '78? corvette indy pace cars. they were going to be like gold, right about now.:D

pffttt.. Vettes are lame... Deloreans increase in value as the price of scrap metal goes up!!!

plus the mint left front fender is worth what I paid for the car.

Are you posing or trying to hold the door up?:D

I remember a complete, but non-running Delorean was for sale here locally a few years ago for 5k. It was sitting in a Volvo dealerships back lot. It was in rough shape, but still very cool.

I have a space age rod(a 2x4) holding it up.. The door weighs like 80 lbs with the door lock and all that junk in it.

Congratulations Joe!!! I thought it wasn't going to happen.

I guess intense desire always find a way.:D:D:cool:

The Don (McFly) finds his car. Congrats. I have more respect for a car collector who owns a car because they like, OK possesed by, it. Body looks fairly straight. Looks more like interior work.
Tom

Congratulations on purchasing the car, Don!

What the hell, you only live once, right?:)

Tom

the interior is complete, most of it is in the luggage compartment. Lets see the Bricklins!

Congrats on the purchase, Joe! Looks like you'll be busy for awhile.

I know it's probably considered blasphemy in the Delorean circles, but the painted panel prompted the question. Do painted ones show up at the shows? Are they generally shunned by the afficianados? I've always wondered what one would look like in the usual sportscar colors.
