Another hard part of quitting for me was taking breaks at work. At first I stopped taking them, but realized that I still needed to get away from the desk and relax for a minute every now and then.
Cripes, good thing I never picked up the habit. I'm a fat enought ba$tard as it is without subbing snacks for smokes.

I've actually been doing pretty good. Down to a tick over 264. If I was trying to quit smoking I'd be well over 285 with all the snacking.

Talking about smoking.....I bet most people don't know that Obama is a smoker.

I wonder if he'll pick up eating jelly beans like Reagan did if he wins.

Day two: Slid a bit last night but still going forward. Feeling really strange. Got to make it through this week!

Slid a bit? You have to understand that you cannot have another cigarette for the rest of your life. If you think you have the habit licked in a few days and sneak one, you've lost and you'll probably wind up right back where you were.

And yes, you've got to make it through this week, because next week will likely be worse. After two weeks, it gets a lot better.

But I suppose it depends on how bad your addiction is. These folks who talk about sneaking one now and then were probably never very addicted in the first place. To me, my lit cigarette was as important a part of my body as my fingers.

Way back in the primaries, he claimed his wife made him quit "sneaking the occasional cigarette" before he registered on the ballot.

Yep, and I also have read that reporters have noted that he still sneaks the occasional cigarette when his wife's not around.

Sounds familiar. I think I did that for some 30 odd years.
