I leave it in gear. I drive an automatic so I don't have to shift. Just lazy I guess.
Never been to one. Although I heard from reliable sources there is a porno titled "Grannies and Trannies".

Me too.

Its actually bad for the tranny to take it out of gear at a light.

In D all the gears and clutches are stationary and the only things moving are the torque converter impeller and the pump. The car brakes and transmission bands/clutches are not wearing at all to keep the car stationary.

When you put it in N everything is moving freely with the torque converter and wearing. When you put it back into D the clutches must absorb the engine torque to stop everything from moving.

Put in in neutral, rev it to 5,000 rpm and then slam it into 1st and peel out the instant the light turns green.

Only in rentals...

Which reminds me of a major pet-peeve: "friends" who like to throw your car out of gear while driving. My brother had a friend who tried to slip the gear selector from Drive to Neutral in my brother's Toyota pickup once, and accidentally got it all the way to Reverse. Luckily, they had JUST pulled away at a green light, and it did no (immediate) damage. My brother wasn't terribly happy, and let his buddy know it in no uncertain terms.

The "pull the ebrake" gag is good for the occasional laugh in a pinch, I guess, but keep your hands off my gear selector!

Mental note: from now on, just leave it in D!

Back in tech class (waaay back in highschool), the teacher loved to get hold of our cars if we left it in the shop with the keys....

With my wagon he piled 10 people into (and on) it and drove around the campus for awhile. Somebody made the mistake of parking in HIS spot, he blocked it in with the Freightliner for two days. He took another classmate's Geo, got it up to 10mph and slammed it into park...a few times.

Mr. Brand didn't come back to teach the next year...

What a great guy. He probably ended up in a ditch somewhere by a disgruntled ex-pupil who now has a slight scratch from first to second.

Me too.

Or, if I feel like being a jerk. I’ll put it in reverse and see how nervous it makes the guy behind me.

$3k later you have a new tranny!

I put mine in neutral so I can roll the car backwords like its a manual and look cool. I also rev it every few seconds. Than I look at the guy next to me and give him the "do you wanna go for it look".

When I had the Jetta I used to just throw the lever from park to 2nd about a million times and try to confuse it. Than as I started to go I would like to grab the gears, so I would pop it into neutral, bounce it off the limiter, than back into drive, or sometimes park or reverse. When I junked that car the trans fluid looked like oil that had been in a 617 for 20k miles, but it still shifted perfectly!

Ahhh, we are all guilty of this (at one point or another).... I like to do the rollback thing when there is someone on my ass... Their look is priceless.

My favorite are the morons in New Haven that love driving in the gutter to try to get in front of the line of traffic. My dad makes great sport out of them when driving the dump truck, pulling the trailer, usualy with a 30k pound machine on it. Wait until the SOB is about even with your rear corner and turn into the break down lane on them. They **** there pants as a dump truck or the side of an excavator moves in on them. Extra bonus points if you do it on the highway and drive them onto the grass or into the guardrail.

Even an H2 is a toy compared to a tri axle.

Ok for now on i am leaving it in D...

Speeking of reversing in a red light i should get some small flash (wireless actuated if there's one ) light and place in the reverse light so it looks like i am going to reverse in a red light but drives forward I bet that trick is going to make the back driver VERY Angry and confused...

I buy so many of them that the Mercedes Benz dealer gives me every 3rd one for free, and I pay the bills for them by bounty hunting riced out Honda Civics and kicking their azz every time.....
