Where can I get a good k98?

I want to buy a Mauser K98, but I want a good one with all the original German symbols still on it. Where do you get them? I'm going to try my local gun store, they usualy have them in verying quality. What should I check? What markings should I look for?

I have an original numbers matching M1 Carbine, I want to add a K98 to it.

A enthusiastic gunsmith should be able to find one, but at a cost. Yugo m98 carbines are often in unused condition for around $200-$250. Not what you're looking for, but still good condition.

Nah, just collecting.

But if I did I would be a German, they had the best uniforms.

You might also check out Soldier of Fortune magazine. There was a compnay that advertised having the German Mausers still in the crate and with everythign there for around $250. That was around the last issue of it that I bought a few years ago. The local store stopped carrying them.

This one I really like. I didn't realize good ones were still going for a G note, so I guess I'll keep saving for a bit longer.

Whatever I get I will keep, and I think that a good numbers matching gun will always hold its value. So I'm quite willing to wait and pay more for one.

I might get a cheap $150 Mosin for now for the Russian part of my WW2 collection. They are just so junky I don't know if I can bring myself to buy one. I was looking at them today, I think peasents did the machine work.
