The Atkins works great if you stick to it. I've dropped 20+ pounds since Sep, most of which was in the first two months and have kept it off. Good luck with it!

Bier: Hoffbrau haus mit ein pretzl or Paulander Spring fest. There is a German resturant in Indy (Rastkeller), that has good pretzels and Spaten Optimator is very good. Roulladen is very good if done right.

Spaten Optimator is a staple. Gut Bier!

Anyone here like some of the more unusual German beers? I'm a big fan of Rauchbiers but I've not found anyone else who shares my like of this beer. Most people say it tastes like a glass of bacon, but I like it.

I also enjoy a Radler in hot weather.

Haven't been able to go to a place that has dry aged beef but hope to get to Schulas or Moes both in Indianapolis both are supposed to have amazing steaks (will take wife and myself on her B-day maybe) Haven't really tried any of the german beers, I will try almost anykind of dark beer though best so far Boddingtons Pub ale its very smooth aftertaste for a dark beer and if you don't like your company for that night just hold the glass over their face then you can't see them

Got introduced to Radler when I visited Germany a while ago. Also had a ton of great beers there, and in Austria. Paulaner was one, can't remember most of them though, partly due to the volume I drank and also the long-ish names.

Tom - my Mom makes roulladen, love them. I should ask her for the recipe actually...

The Crawfish season is just starting here so in about a month or two my focus will be on boiled mudbugs the pizza will have to wait.
Local forecast (Lafayette) is an abundant season and good prices. I hope so. Prices last year were very good but the crawfish were smaller than usual until late, when their shells start getting thicker and harder. Not that it slowed me down much ....

Rauchbier & boiled crawfish? Hmmmmm sounds PDG!

Beer-local micro Ten Penny Scotch Ale and Dirty Penny (Black & Tan), for mass produced-just about any of the Sam Adams without fruits or spices.

Draught-George Washington Porter at The City Tavern, kind of like Guiness with a bit more carbonation.

Wooster Street (New Haven) style pizza (thin crust, brick oven).

Porterhouse steak at Carmen Anthony and the Lobster Feast at Lenny & Joes Fishtale (Lobster, chowda, steamers, corn and fries), both CT joints.

I'll be in N.O. the first week of Feb. and am looking forward to eating more than my fair share of those critters!

You'd whither away to nothing if not for the carbed beer!

You are correct, the only carbs I take in is beer carbs. I mostly grill meat like steak, chicken, pork ribs and such.

Food, my favorite subject!

I have been making mac and cheese. Smoked Gouda, bacon, cauliflower, horseradish and dijon mustard. mmm. mmm...

I have also been a bad boy frying up a mess of pork chops lately.

Tonight I made fried rice with chicken, sausage, broccoli, eggs, onions, garlic and a sauce made from Soy sauce, Worcestershire sauce, Hoysin sauce and some hot sauce.

Yummy

For drinks I have been doing a lot of brandy and sodas lately -- got on a kick for them after seeing 'The Big Sleep' on TCM
