PP have you sat in or driven an Elise?

IMO, they are too small for even me. I am under 6 feet, and it is just too small. Not to mention its a pain in the rear to get in and out of.

One of the terrorist people on 24 drove a Maserati.

I've been a MB driver for almost 6 years now.....and I'll never switch, I have yet to be impressed by another vehicle. I love our W124 for highway cruising vs. my SD just because it has working cruise and is a lot quieter (and same MPG's for the most part). But at the end of the day.....300SD still wins, I love the diesel torque/feel/sound/smell, even though its slower.

Many years ago I helped a friend work on his Rolls-Royce. Nothing big; just little electrical problems. This was a big old car from the late 1950's and the biggest memory I have of it is that the doors felt like they belonged on a safe. I don't remember where he got it, but it had quite a bit of rust and I think he paid very little for it.

If you want to be in the know, or a member of the 'smart set', you NEVER call the car a Rolls, 'dalhling. It is always reffered to as a 'Royce'. The reason for this is that Rolls was a playboy that sold the car to his rich friends. Royce was the engineer behind the car.

Royce would entertain at parties by taking a block of metal and filing it down to a perfect 1/2 inch or whatever else he was asked to produce. This would impress people enough that they would buy a RR automobile.

I just wanted to pass this on so none of you would look like some kind of 'common person' at the Royce dealership, because if you buy one of these cars from that era you will likely get to know the guy at the parts counter by his first name.

A friend of mine has one. He was racing it at Lime Rock when he lost control and glanced off a barrier. The front end is one piece and cost him $15000 to replace!

Thing goes like hell though!

I could not fit in it. My friend is very short and small.

Our company used to have Rolls Royce in house before MB required that MB be the only make in the shop. All the mechanics I knew that worked on them called them Rolls.

Also I did a fun run last year with a bunch of those Lotus Elise's. Damn those things are small and fast! I slid off the road trying to keep up.

Matt, I hate to get passed by high-mounted big pickups. On a straight line they are fine. But in a brake-slamming instant they'll cartwheel. Even worse is some goof with a 4-wheeler up in his 4x4 pulling a trailer with 2 or 3 4-wheelers -- passing me at 80 or 85. That ain't driving, that's trajectory management.

And Powerpig, I taste the green bile of envy in the back of my dry throat.

Did you just get a big raise or something? Damn!

I don't know, I sat in the back of an Arnage once and I wasn't too impressed. Classy for sure, but I think the back of a Maybach 62 is a much nicer place to be.

I have ridden in the back of a 57. Pretty awesome car..... Its very eerie to ride around in it though, as its very very quiet.

It does have a good soundsystem though.
