A video worth watching.
In my opinion a superb discussion between historian Niall Ferguson and futurist Peter Schwartz. If you have a couple of hours to spare it's well worth watching. Essentially they go back and forth about history, pessimism, optimism, futurism and the human condition to put it simply. I'd go so far as to rate this type of thing as one of the prime reasons the internet is a really good thing.

I've listened to interviews with both of those guys and they're worth a listen IMO. Not sure if I can listen to all of this one but I'll go for a while on it.
Brand is an interesting character as well. I use to spend hours with 'The Last Whole Earth Catalog' and later 'The Next WEC." Lot of food for thought.
