I must admit I do carryout pizza for supper at least once a week.
Bring it home or in the motorcoach on-the-road. Also do Subway about once a week on-the-road. Have cold beer in the motorcoach..... Last edited by Skid Row Joe; 04-06-2009 at 12:42 AM. |

Oh man I love this thread already!
My favorites are Fried chicken with turnip greens and taters ( Mis-planted Southern Boy born in NY) My own recipe for pulled pork BBQ with coleslaw sandwiches Mac and Cheese with cauliflower and bacon (using smoked gouda and not cheddar) ANY grilled steak! Flank steak marinated overnight cut into fajitas Beer boiled and then grilled FRESH from my Mennonite meat store bratwurst -- I never knew meat could be so good untilI found these great people! Smoked turkey I smoke myself Burgers stuffed with blue cheese or cheddar etc etc etc... We should create a recipe thread where we could post our faves. Make a MBSHOP -er-Peachparts cookbook online!

There's nothing I enjoy more than a lesser-quality cut of meat that has been braised for hours in some sort of a wine based gravy. Like braised beef short ribs, or braised lamb shanks. All that connective tissue and fat breaks down into the sauce, and the meat becomes fall-off-the-bone tender. Serve it over some mashed potatoes to get all that gravy mopped up, with a nice strong glass of red wine, and that's just about as perfect as it gets for me.

Definitely steak (of varying cuts and quality depending on mood) and spuds along with some Sam Adams Light.
Not far behind is the typical New England Lobster Bake with lobsta, steamers, mussels, corn on the cob, chowda and chorizo. I've also got a soft spot for good Chicken Pot Pies. And some so-so ones. And a charcoal grilled cheeseburger w/nothing but fresh ground black pepper and American or Muenster cheese. Quote:
And... Lots of favorites which explains my ample girth. Now I'm hungry.

I make some killer manicotti from scratch. My chili ain't bad either. I used to like cooking a lot of ethnic foods and liked most of those, but I've gotten out of the habit lately. Maybe I'll start cooking again, though. It's more fun when you have someone else to cook for. Just cooking for myself doesn't seem worth all the trouble most of the time.

Steak, grilled over a charcoal fire with butter slathered around it for the smokey flavor. Rare, of course. Baked potato with butter and a little sour cream with a sprinkle of bacon. That or buttered Jasmine Rice. Or buttered Jasmine, either works.
When you start, the potato or the rice is yellow from the butter but as the meal progresses, the rice or potato gets a red tinge from the blood of the steak. To finish off the meal, sit down and relax with a nice bottle of chilled Eiswein.
