Airline Baggage Fee's

Anyone surprised that Airlines instituted baggage fees in response to skyrocketing fuel costs, now that fuel costs have come down the fees are still there.

And UA just announced an increase !!

Yea, they just had it on the news here.

The Chicago Alderman Jumped up and down, threating to revoke a variety of public subsidies to the Chicago Art Institute after they proposed raising the entrance fee 50 % (12 to 18 bucks).

Of course the alderman OK'd the sale of the city parking meters to a private company that resulted in up to 400 % (YES 400 %) increase in meter rates.

Don't like the fee.........carry less baggage........or drive. Your choice.

When the airlines make a huge profit.........then you can complain about the fees..........

Does that mean I've got clearance to b1tch about the oil companies?

It's still cheaper to fly than it is to buy fuel and drive.

Actually I don't really object to the fee's.

Although I think everyone should get one free bag as part of the ticket price.

But what I object to is they institute the fee because of high fuel prices, then don't recind them when prices fall.

Gee does sound like a government operation

They definitely instituted the fees to generate more revenue during the fuel crisis.

However, they are now suffering an entirely different crisis.........reduced load factors due to the recession.

Do you think they should eliminate the fees when they continue to operate the aircraft at a loss?

Would you?

I agree, just add the $25 into the ticket price. I object more to the people with every conceivably allowed carry on, all larger than permitted by airline regulation.

Or maybe a flight where nobody really cares what you do.

Leave the lav door open...
Throw the divan pillows on the floor...
Set your own cabin temperature...
Use the cell phone any time ya want...
Bring your own food and drinks...
Don't ever wear a seat belt...
Leg room isn't ever an issue...
The seats lay all the way back flat...
There's 110V ac available...

Something more like this:

Thanks for saying that! Have you ever seen women travel, it makes me ashamed I am part of the species. What's with the steamer trunks for a three day jaunt? I went to Hawaii for a week and took a bag that measured 24L X 6D X 12W and had enough cloths for several festive occassions. My rule when I fly if it doesn't fit in the over head- it ain't going.

I used to just carry on my luggage, but it makes the security ordeal much more difficult, and carrying your luggage through the airport really sucks. Especially in Denver, where you are forced downstairs for the ridiculous train, then back up to concourse level. Then factor in another level up to get to the bar, not to mention the bag taking up prime real estate in the bar once I get there. I'm a big fan of tossing down a couple drinks before my flight, helps me sleep through the crying babies.

Well, you're obviously an exceptional woman, Mistress. It's too bad there aren't more women like you.

We try to encourage minimal clothing here anyway.
