I just was hoping someone had dyno experience so the loss in power might be quantified. I was thinking it might be down about 20 hp from optimal condition, based on a little study I did on the basis of fifties and sixties cadillac motors...(I had complete data on them is the only reason to use them).

Tom, I remember reading an article in, I think, Encyclopedia Britannica a lot of years ago that had the exact detail you want. Trouble is, I can't recall, but I think it was something like 2 or 3 % increased efficiency for each integer step in compression ratio. Somehow that doesn't sound right, as I doubt that its a straight line correlation. There is probably more impreovement from say 4:1 to 5:1 than from 10:1 to 11:1
