Talking PC vs Mac

http://www.bing.com/videos/search?q=pc+vs+mac&docid=1321417376673&mid=587259607F5B186EDCE5587259607F5B186EDCE5&FORM=VIVR20#

This is great! Microsoft should start firing them back at Apple.

Pretty cool, but I've said it before and I'll say it again: You need the right tools for the job. The Mac is superior in AV where as the link states, Windows is superior for everyday office tasks such as spreadsheets. Then again, Openoffice.org works well on Mac and Windows. I use them all as well as IBM AIX and Linux. Let the flame wars begin!

We're a PC family, but at some point, there WILL be a Mac replacing the home studio PC.

Mac is far superior for AV as powerpig says, and the music industry swears by it.

And whereas my music hardware requires drivers to interface with the PC, they are all "plug-n-play" compatible with the Mac...

Microsoft products= Better for general office jobs.

Personally I'm happy that there are really only two major players in the computer world. Those who disagree with me probably don't remember the endless lack of compatibility that used to exist in the early days of computers before things were consolidated so nicely. "i'm sorry, that hard drive won't work with this sound card etc etc......"

I'm going to disagree. Pro Tools 8 on my 4gb dual core machine works great. Same goes for my copy of Adobe Premier Pro and After Effects.

Get the best of both worlds, if your office offers Terminal Server, buy the Mac and load Windows via TS.

Don't forget, Apple's Intel powered computers do run Windows, including Win 7, so you can have both OS on one hardware platform.

Very true, which goes along with the fact that certain import cars are better for drifting . . .

I was a PC user up until earlier this year and I have found the Mac far more superior in every way. It has never crashed or locked up. It is far easier to use once I got used to the unique ways it navigates. Above all it is very user friendly and never crashes!
I still have my Piece of Crap only because there is some software that I have that came with some of the books I read and research that are not Mac compatible.

Hardware is hardware...I'd rather get more bang for my buck. I build my computers. You get DIRECT support with the component manufacturers. And, man, you can save a lot of money

If I really wanted OS X, I'd hackintosh a "PC". I've used plenty of operating systems (OS X, windows, linux, etc). Most are fine, you just have to know how to use them.

PS. I've seen blue screens on Apples...again, it goes back to hardware, user knowledge and proper application. Any computer can malfunction due to hardware problems...

True on the initial purchase, there are no Apple products that "under sell" in their category. But what value do you place, if any, on your time?

Well, I could easily allocate the time I spent browsing forums to building computers It only takes me about two days of testing, which isn't much more than start it, check up on it, and wait until it's done - then move on to the next test. The actual build time (active time requirement) is probably only about two hours, but, I'm fast

I don't mind mac's, my mother has an iMac and she loves it. My brother also has an iMac (it's kinda funny, the first thing he did was put linux on it ) I laughed when he didn't get it exactly perfect and had to fix it.

I'm simply saying, for me, a computer hardware junkie, it's worth my time to do everything myself (even if I decide I'm worth $100/hr), regardless of any pre-built brand

I can build a nice PC in less than 30 minutes + another 35-40 to install the OS....probably less time than it takes to get to a store, buy, bring home, and set up a MAC. Considering that I spent about $1500 less than an equivalent MAC. That means I paid myself over $1000 an hour.

PC's are just as reliable, mine is on 24/7 and I've not had a hardware failure in several years. I upgrade the primary components every 3-4 years at minimal expense (about $230 last March for my current PC). And I can run Linux, etc....

My brother does a ton of AV, Video, Animation, and audio work (advanced stuff/college level) and he is 100% PC, he would not even consider a MAC....WAY too expensive, especially with animation, when you need the fastest system possible, his is ultra fast, an equivalent MAC would be about $3000+....his was under $700.

MAC's are for people with more $$ than ˘˘
