Favorite holiday tunes

'Tis the season... or it will be soon enough, anyway. I stumbled across this version of my all-time favorite Christmas tune and hymn of all time... which may just be be my favorite piece of music in general. Incredible:

What do you like?

I had that record when I was a kid... wore out my little Emerson record player spinning that one!

Beautiful lyrics. Beautiful voice.

My daughter solo'ed singing Mozart's Laudate Dominum her freshman year in college for their Holiday Choir concert. I cried listening to her sing.
It became an instant favorite of mine.
This clip is obviously not her, but she did a super job.

It's not even Thanksgiving yet! Aren't you afraid you'll be sick of Christmas songs by the time the season rolls around?

A local radio station here (96 WHNN) started a 100% Christmas music format two weeks ago.

The ironies of seasonal music. Irving Berlin pens "White Christmas" . . . which you'd have to wonder if it would pass the P.C. tests of today. Then there's the conundrum of Manilow, Streisand and Diamond having "Christmas" hit songs, but not a single Chanukah/Hanukkah chart single among them.

Hey, Chear up, there is always Adam Sandlers' 'Happy Hanukkah'. And I like 'Feliz Navida' by Jose Feliciano. The Red Baron song is a close second. David Bowie and Bing Crosby did 'Little Drummer Boy' in the early 80's, I kind of liked that one too. Some waky ones during the 80's though.

Here's yet another great 'modern' unintentional Christmas song from another English bloke from 4 years later:
