How about universal healthcare or some variation of it?
But I have no idea how to legislate motivation-except to allow people to starve, freeze to death or die from simple infections.

I think Medicare is essentially universal health care for people old enough to qualify. I don't know that you would have to increase the age for Medicare if you increased the age for SS.

If we're gonna do that, why not lower the age down to conception?

That's a different debate, one that seems to be on hold at the moment.

We are tracking off topic.
The discussion of the debt seems as popular here, as with our politicians.

Only difference is that here it is accidental while in the case of politicians, it is meant to put their pork projects in

To me it's fairly straight forward how to deal with debt-spend less money.
Most of the money spent by the g'ment benefits someone, now that corporations are "someone". So who's gonna be first in line to have their allowance cut? Right now senator Shelby says "It ain't me babe".

People "age" at different rates- my father just died at 71, and there is really no way he could have worked for the last four years, yet up until 63 he was going gang busters. He had a "desk job" as a newspaper publisher then as a chamber of commerce CEO.
People have to to be forced to understand the futurity of their actions: if you choose to have a difficult job that has a low paying income, then either educate yourself and make more $ or accept that you will have less $. My father had no college education, and served four years in our armed forces, BTW, but he studied with self education programs. I see folks not taking the steps needed to buy the things they want for their family, and then ***** about not being able to afford those things and expect others to buy those things for them. Gov spending starts with folks understanding that YOU yourself need to accept the futurity of your own actions, and the gov is just others like you slogging away thru life with problems just like you. The gov is not a free handout, yet community "leaders" keep telling many groups that it is. The govt needs to stop spending overseas, both military and "aid". We need to protect our own borders, to protect our own businesses, and to stop "paying" folks that have little to no productivity primarily because they chose unintelligent paths in life. The gov needs to freeze spending and cut services and programs. It needs to get smaller, not bigger.

That pretty much covers it.

So you guys think that the quality of your life will get better when the government stops spending?

I think my quality of life will be exactly the same, but my kids will inherit less debt.

That question should have been posed to R Reagan.

I'll take a long term benefit over a short term gain any day. How 'bout you?

RRR's debt was a pittance compared to today's debt.
The problem is NOW.
The solution is needed NOW.
