I wish I had the opportunity to sit in a w123 brand new with the smell of some german plastics and glue.

Either way I'm happy with mine now. It still has some weird MBtex smell.

Yeah, well put.

I remember thinking that the 300TD would be ideal for our family when I was 10, and the last ones were being built (W123). Far too expensive for my folks back then.

Well, I was right. The 300TD is an ideal family car for us in 2010. My wife loves it and the pets seem appreciative, though cats and rabbits don't have occasion to ride in it often

If I want to own a second W123 I can go on CL and find one, probably for no more than a week's pay. I'm realistic enough to know that I'll never earn enough to buy a brand-new E class in a week, no matter how prosperous I get!

That is just wrong. He was there before the condos, minding his own business. The builder chose the location knowing the cars were there. The builders should have had to put up a fence at their own expense.

My family and I were good friends with this old man, and believe me, we all agreed on the injustice that was taking place, but that's not how the city saw it. The builders and the city were interested in making money.

It's an old game that has been going on for a long time: the guy with the deep pockets calls the shots.

The U.S. Supreme Court several years ago upheld a landmark decision that the overall good of the community served by far exceeds private property rights. Sounds to me like the guy was in the wrong with how he was using his private property and he needed rehabilitation and a fresh attitude change - of sorts.

Many have sent the message to Washington; more "BIG GOVERNMENT," (the more the better) so in essence, they're basically just giving you what you want. For your own good.

Nobody I know wants more big government. Sounds like big government sent that letter to Washington.

Really? Then why is there one-party-rule in Washington, D.C.?

Hint; the voters sent a clear message by voting it in; more tax, and a lot more government control over their lives.

I believe you need to re-assess your incorrect belief about "Americans not wanting much bigger government," once given the facts...

With a one party rule, political power is concentrated to a few select individuals. The voters are essentially giving up their power and putting it in the hands of those select few individuals. That's great for people that don't mind being led. But like I said, nobody I know wants a bigger government.

Re-assess what? "nobody I know wants more big government" is a factual statement. Anyway, lets not turn this nice thread into a political thing.

(Old thread revival)

Has anyone got any pictures of how the W123 body was made?

I'm looking for ideas for jigs.
