My dad is a ticket fighter. when i was a kid he got pulled over, the cop turned his lights on in the middle of an over-crossing, my dad continued to the other side of the bridge, through the on-ramp/off-ramp intersection and then pulled over. the cop wrote my dad up for a slue of charges, including disobeying an officer because he didn't stop on the over pass. the judge laughed the cop out of the court room. since then I've learned to do whats safe to hell with the cops, because you can always talk to the judge...

to bad most cops aren't very bright.

Wow. There's a stupid oinker.

Most cops that've pulled me over have appreciated me pulling off the main road into a safer street. I'd like to think it's gotten me out of a ticket or two.

I've only been pulled over three times. Twice was on a highway (So no choice of a place to pull over) And the second one was on a very quiet back street at night. IF it ever happens in suburbia though I'll gladly pull off the main road and onto a side street.

Check your speedo reading, it's 111mph. There was NOTHING. Straight road, no traffic, no visibility restrictions, nothing. I took the picture, I was at NO risk to anyone but myself and my friend. We both knew the risk, took it, and that's the end of the story. No "what if" games, they drive me nucking futs

I wasnt nice to it, whatsoever. Except I brought it back clean. It did pretty good reverse ****ties in a big parkinglot by the hotel after it snowed

Didnt idle right when I brought it back, I informed the counter man, he said "yeah, that sometimes happens"

Smiled, and dropped the keys off.

The last time I drove a rental the speedo was bouncing around between 50 and 80 (I was driving a single constant speed) I already had my 'if I get pulled over' speech ready.

"Sir do you know how fast you were going?"
"Actually officer I have no idea, the speedo was telling me something between 50 and 80 even though the RPMs never changed."

the car rental company actuaries calculate for this type of behavior and
include the upcharge in the rental. not only do they UPcharge the rental to help cover damages due to the mechanical destruction of the vehicle, the rest of us pay substantially more as well.

nothing is "free".

kinda like people who think it is fun to rip off linens from hotels they stay at. they think they are being smart, but in the end, every time they stay at that hotel, they are paying for it. and, so are the rest of us.

Cities and county cops cant But troopers CAN. It cost me $100 buck a few years ago to find that out on GA hwy 15 between Athens and I-20.

On the UTSA campus, it's $100 just for a parking ticket - which they hand out like candy for the most inane reasons. I'd hate to see what one of their speeding tickets would run.

One time I saw one of their cars pulled over, and the cop writing out a ticket to a guy with a mobile hot dog stand on the sidewalk. Poor guy was't even trying to sell anything, just trying to pass thru the campus to the next street over. Cop busted him for trying to sell his merchandise without being an authorized UTSA vendor - afraid he was going to take away a couple bucks from the Starbucks, Subway, Panda Express, and WhataBurger they had on campus.

That isn't limited to UTSA. In college, we briefly had our own student run version of The Onion called Shaft News. One time they ran a picture of a guy in a brown shirt with a huge swastika on the back under the headline, "Parking Department gets new uniforms." There was much truth there.

Yeah there is a lot of truth to that.

At my school we have the same problem, the cops are so heavy with the parking regulations that any dictator would be proud of them.

No proof of it but I swear they are getting kickbacks from towing companies to, the LOVE towing cars. Actualy have the tow trucks sitting and waiting.

Amen to that. I feel sorry for the students that get nailed by these guys and have no recourse but to pay up - and these aren't rent-a-cops, but actual SAPD. Hell, these guys even ticket the university's own work vehicles when they're pulled up to a building answering a maintenance item or trouble call - so UTSA even goes to the point of fining themselves to try and make money!

Being we're contracted to operate the 2 thermal energy plants, we have the out that if one of these morons writes us a ticket for parking in our own assigned spaces, UTSA will take care of the ticket with SAPD.

And they've actually done just that. We have to have two different parking passes for both plants - one for North Plant, one for South Plant. One day the District Manager, Plant Manager, and Assistant Manager all got tickets. They were parked at the North Plant, in our assigned spaces, with their North Plant passes out in front hanging from their rear view mirrors, with their South Plant passes hanging behind them. Cops wrote each of them two tickets - One, saying they were only supposed to have one parking pass displayed at a time, and Two, because the South Plant pass was obstructed from view by the North Plant pass and they couldn't read it to see whether or not it was expired, so they could potentially write them a THIRD ticket for an expired South Plant pass!!!

Let's just say the ensuing comments from the 3 of them would not have been suitable for polite company - but IMHO quite justified given the actions of these quota-happy jerks.
