Wow, "crying out in the darkness"? I thought someone said that the majority opposed this bill?

If you're not happy with your reprsentatives, vote them out of office. Right now, like it or not, the Democrats hold a large majority because the people voted for them. Don't like being the minority and overruled, tough cookies. Democracy is working, the majority rules.

I'd like to challenge the statement "because the people voted for them". "the people's" vote becomes "their" vote because "they" own the processes involved. override the software in a Diebold voting machine and you can
get Donald Duck elected. of course, any review of history will reveal that ballot box stuffing has been a problem for some time..........

See post #17.

I should qualify my comments to reflect that there is nothing you can do in the short term.............naturally, you can vote the current Senator/Congressman out of office if you can garner sufficient support.

There are plenty of folks who are dissatisfied with the government. In fact, I'd hazard to guess that everybody on this forum is dissatisfied with the government to a certain degree. However, ranting on here serves absolutely no purpose and causes the thread to degrade into personal insults of no value whatsoever.

It's quite simple:

If you're dissatisfied with the government, vote your current elected official out of office. You have your solution. This forum is for discussion and there is nothing more to discuss.

You good people have my sympathy!!
We have had Medicare in Australia for many years now.
If you go to a public hospital, expect to wait for a day there before you are see by some one, a Doctor if you are lucky.
Our public health system in Australia is collapsing in a heap.
What I read suggests that you people are about to start on the same sort of system.
God help you all !!!!!

Are all the hospitals in Australia public, or do you still have the option of going to a private one and spending your own money?

uh, i think you took that essay by cass sunstein (or whatever his name is) a bit too seriously.

(or was the above meant as satire? )

Why do start every post directed at me with 'uh' or 'um'? It basically invalidates every statement following it, just so you know. And no, you can do a search for Pentagon, CIA, DHS, etc. monitoring online activity. It's old news.

uh, it implies a certain puzzlement? bemusement? amazement? at the things some people believe?

or, perhaps, uh, it references say, the police negotiator trying to talk down the, uh, special individual who holds certain irrational beliefs?

uh, yes, i'm sure that homeland security is very interested in and concerned about what a bunch of mercedes owners have to say?

uh, you must decide for yourself.
