Well said, 1st amendment in a nutshell. Now, if we could only get them to teach THAT in our public schools, this country might become a more pleasant place to live.

IMHO, from what I've seen over the years, neither party has a monopoly on hypocrisy.

You're going to take anecdotal examples and extend that as representative to 100m Republicans? Fine - Al Sharpton is a racist, therefore, the Dems are racists.

Stop racism you Dems! Why can't you just treat people based on their merits rather than their skin tones?!? I'm sick of you Dems preaching tolerance and peace while your moral leader Sharpton is out there stoking the fires of racism for his personal gain; "don't try to convince me by going to church that you are a christian when in fact you go there to screw the choir boy."

This thread, like your other slanted threads, is absurd.
That is the lamest defense of partisan politics I have ever read. "Everyone else does it the other guy does to, so why can't *I* do it on the grandest scale ever?

You could use that logic to justify cheating on your taxes, and on your wife too, for that matter..

It reminds me of the story about the guy who got stopped speeding by the Highway Patrol.

The motorist said "Hey why are you picking on ME? Everyone else out there on the road is speeding, but I was the one you stopped!!"

The cop asked him, "Do you ever go duck hunting?"

The guy said: "Yeah, lots of times so what?"

The cop said, "Well, YOU'RE the one I GOT!"

You fail to see the basic humanity in people, which is why you could care less if they live or die for lack of healthcare, and all the other rights you endeavor to deny to others because of your own moral judgements as is the case with homosexuals and women in need of an abortion.
Don't want gov't healthcare b/c gov't can't pay for it - personal responsibility (healthcare isn't a right in this country - read the founding documents). Your health is your responsibility, not the government's. Your retirement savings is your responsbility, not the government's. If you can't pay for health insurance, you'll still get help at a hospital. The only thing wrong with our healthcare system is that it's expensive, but having been through the ringer a couple of times, I know where that money went - expensive machines, some seriously good doctors (a lot of bad ones too, btw), a lot of complicated tests, and a lot of "procedures" that use cutting-edge technology. The best quality of care isn't cheap so get used to paying for it if you want it; I had to go out and earn more money so I can keep up with these medical bills.

And you don't know me, so you don't know if I fail to see the basic humanity in people, and you don't know my opinions on gays or abortion either. You're prejudging me, which is precisely what you preach NOT TO DO. Nice work.

I was being purposely absurd to make a point; it wasn't a defense of partisan politics, it was a commentary of the absurd idea that you can take a single person's actions then claim its representative of a very large group.

Everyone can go to the Emergency room and get treatment. No one can be turned away.

But... Everyone, and I mean everyone, gets a bill for the services rendered. Just because they have to treat you without insurance they don't have to treat you for free and they don't.

Can't pay? No problem! That's what judgements are for. If you have a job your wages are garnashed, if you don't your property is seized.

But help is one the way! In a few years everyone will have access to health insurnace so they will be able to pay something when they get worked on. But, you say. won't the higher costs to the insurance companies be passed on to me?

They are being passed on to you now by the hospital through your insurance company to cover those that can never be collected on. People like those that leave the country, the dead, etc....
