A Thanks to Swampyankee (Part 2)

Anyone who follows 'my' thread knows that yesterday my radiator died the leaving me stranded while I was on my way to my first job interview in months. (Phone calls work, resumes suck) Well the sad part is that the Mercedes-Benz corporate office sent me two free tickets to the NY auto show for this week and expected me to attend so that I may give them my opinion on the show and it's displays. The plan was to replace my radiator and get down to the show but because of circumstances outside of my control I was unable to get this done in time and had no other car to use to get to the show. (I thought I had a chance to use my dads Volvo but I found out that it made one heck of a loud grinding noise from the left from side at highway speed and I didn't want to risk being left stranded a 2nd time) I made a few phone calls to try and procure another vehicle for today but nothing came through.

THANKFULLY x3 Swampyankee came through for me again and let me borrow his Jeep for the day. It was a bit rough around the edges and it had a few seizures on the highway but overall it got the job done so I can't complain. With all the crap that i've been put through by a**holes it is good to see that there are still plenty of good honest people in this world who are willing to help others in a time of need.

Here is part one for anyone who is curious.
A thanks to SwampYankee....

A bit rough? You're being too kind. What can I say, it's my little workhorse. After you left, it dawned on me that there was still 75 psi of pressure in the front airbags (helper springs for the snowplow). Wranglers don't ride well, but they generally don't ride as harshly as you just had the pleasure of experiencing.

I'm glad you were able to get there. If I knew you were bringing a guest I would have torn that passenger door panel of so you could open the door. And maybe take the kid seat out.

Hope you had fun. The offer always stands. Although there's probably more incentive to keep your SDL in tip-top shape now.

I guess that might explain the odd shaking that occurred a few times during the trip. Thankfully I'm not the type to panic and just pulled out of the tremors although I was still confused as to why they were happening almost at random (Just hitting a merge of concrete and asphalt did it once or running over a small bump in the road would do it) My theory is that it was something to do with the load on the axles and the airbag springs seem to make sense.

Yeah she was a real trooper about the entire thing so I'm very proud of her for dealing with such crazy unexpected last minute circumstances. Although it must be said that she says I drive an 'old man car'....after that trip I don't think she should make any complaints about it

Well, it's just because you ARE an old man.

Anyway, thank you, Mr. Swampyankee for an amazing thrill ride. The "seizures" gave me a lovely tickle in my stomach and I couldn't stop laughing. I really appreciate you letting Michael borrow your car. Didn't want him being a bum about missing the Auto Show. It was fun! We both enjoyed it a lot, thanks to you!

You're quite welcome, Ms. Drezell. I'm glad you two were able to make the show. I knew Mike could really use the escape!

And Mike's not an old man, just mature beyond his years.
We're inversely proportionate!

That's pretty awesome of swamp ... but not surprising! I'm really glad you got to go despite the flurry of crap you're dealing with ... hopefully it will be the start of a string of good fortune? Sometimes one or two nice gestures can make all the difference when everything else has gone to heck.

Hope your next radiator gets in soon ... without preincluded leaks ...

I once had to load a Gwagen to the brim with beer and alcohol and deliver it (There was so much of it that the rear suspension was actually sagging)

How many days will that hold you off for?

Correct. He acts like an old man! But he CAN be cool. And he totally did need the escape, and I needed a ride, soooooo it worked out splendidly.

You are a really cool guy! I wish you could have come with us, actually! Oh well, some other time.

He's also a very tall man so my car would be required. Swampie in the back of that jeep would be like Hightower driving in Police Academy

I would, of course, have to be the one in the back. Maybe it would be safter...ya know, for when the seizures occur. Hee hee. I still would have giggle fits I think. I refuse to sit in the kids seat though!

Haha refuse? At what point did I ask you to sit in that seat? Swampyankee drove my car once and would have no problem sitting in the front while you sat in the back reading .

Note the 'trap' that I set for him last summer

What is your favorite Starbucks beverage

That is just too funny! Very clever. Why don't you trick me and then bring me a strawberry coolatta from Dunkin' Donuts? Haha. Or hot chocolate (I like Hatterasguy's idea)

Just kidding. And you boys can have the front, while I go be a nerd in the backseat. Sounds like a plan. When are we doing this??! Haha.

I don't need to set traps for you. I just pull into where ever your stomach leads us

This week most likely actually. Just waiting for word from Hattie on scheduling.
