So the Florida State Scholastic Chess championships were this last weekend. Patrick was perfect in the county (district) match 5 out of 5. In the regional he scored 4.5 out of 5 and tied for first. Now he takes his team to state and they win the state open title! They are the best chess team in the state for third grade and under. Paul's team was a big underdog in the brutal K-5 open division and outplays their ratings and finishes third in the state. The younger K-1 team still was able to place 5th with a top 10 individual finisher. Our coach's father had a heart attack and so he flew to Greece the night before the meet started and I was fill in coach. Well over 600 student attended and played. It's the schools first state title.

National are in Nashville in mid May and we will be bringing a team....
