what is irrational about having food supplies on hand in the case of an emergency? this sort of planning has been around since the 50s. most families I knew on the gulf coast always kept about a week's worth of no-perishable food stuff, esp during hurricane season. I imagine most of the thousands living in squalor in the Superdome after Katrina wished they had prepared also.

Speaking of the beck rally, and the supposed answer to it by liberals and progressives. How'd that massive rally work out for you?

I did see a few pictures of a crowd that was a small fraction of the Beck rally.

You do what you want.
But if the US treasury keeps printing money, some investments in commodities might make sense. Its not like the gold, or whatever is gaining in value; it pretty much retains the same value. But the number of dollars that the commodity will bring will increase as the currency devalues.
