We have been through the 'Solar Max' thing before. In fact it has taken place several times over the past 40 years.

I don't know if it has any effect on the weather. The main reason NASA keeps up with this is that as the solar storm passes Earth it will have a negative effect on our Microwave communications.

Sat Nav systems and Sat linked control systems will need to be monitored during this time. We used to station people at sites that could be shut down by this during the time the storm was passing.

The storm takes about two or three days to pass. One thing that is interesting during one of these is that the Northern LIghts can sometimes be seen as far south as Dallas.

Media Matters doesn't pretend otherwise. They brag about their opposition to Fox.

I was not aware that the debate is intensifying, although I have seen Fox's efforts to make it appear so.
