Anyone ever done this? I'm tempted since I don't use my credit to often, and it seems like a really good way to stop fraud.

Opinions?

It seems to cost about $10 per agency to put one on, so $30 total, and another $30 to suspend them.

How much fraud have you really encountered? I know the ad says you have more credit fraud than car theft but somehow, I think they slightly inflated it

Well, I happen to think it's primarily fear-mongering and hysteria to me.

Fear that the boogey man is out to jack your credit is just silly! I'm spread out about as far as any individual can be, and I've never had one iota of this fraud thingy that is characterized as being widespread and mainstream.

It just doesn't happen from my experience. ?Pay an entity to protect me? I'm sorry, but that notion is just funny to me!

Well ID theft is a real problem, this seems like a decent way to make it a bit harder.

I did it awhile ago and could have sworn it was free.


Either way, all three credit agencies should be calling us when a new line of credit has been added. Some type of real time reporting should be forced on these demon agencies since a yearly one time credit report isn't enough).
